Woman Files Lawsuit Against State Over Iowa Juvenile Home
DES MOINES, Iowa -- An Iowa woman is suing the state, saying she was forced to spend hundreds of days in an isolation cell at the Iowa Juvenile Home in Toledo. Twenty-year-old Jessica Turner says she spent 280 day of her 528 day stay in a cell. She went there in 2011 at the age of 16 for two charges of assault. Upon arrival, she was diagnosed with several disorders including ADHD and mild mental retardation.
