Remains of Iowa WWII Airman Downed in Germany Returning Home
DES MOINES, Iowa -- The remains of an Iowa airman who was shot down over Germany during World War II are being returned to the U.S. for burial. Staff Sgt. Robert “Bobby” Howard of Moulton was 21-years-old and an engineer/gunner on a Martin B-26B “Marauder” when the plane was shot down and it crashed near Wittenburg, Germany on April 16th, 1945.
