GAS TAX: Supporters Lobby Lawmakers
Folks in favor of raising Iowa’s gas tax lobbied lawmakers at the capitol Wednesday. The group supports current legislation to increase the tax by 10 cents. The extra money would be used to make repairs to roads and bridges across the state. Proponents say better roads means a more vibrant economy and more businesses. “The county engineers care greatly about the system. I know all these engineers, we've gone to a lot of different colleges to learn the trade. To my knowledge none went to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It's not going to happen through magic, it's going to happen through money.” Tama County Engineer Lyle Brehm said.
