Food Labeling Act Passes House
A bill that would make GMO labeling voluntary was voted on in the U.S. House on July 23. The Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act passed on a primarily party line vote: 275-150. It stops state labeling differences and would clarify national labeling regulations in regard to genetically modified food. The Food and Drug Administration would require a label only if it finds a health or safety risk posed by a variety.
