IT’S OFFICIAL: Branstad Signs Education Reform
New legislation aiming to get Iowa's schools back on top is now official.Governor Branstad added his signature to the Education Reform Bill Monday morning at North High School.The governor says it provides Iowa schools with the support needed to raise student achievement.He also says the bill makes teaching a more attractive profession by providing leadership roles and increasing starting teacher pay to $33,500.It also adds new student assessments. “I'm honored to have worked with all of you to reach this watershed moment. It is a hard-earned accomplishment. Change is never easy," Branstad said to the audience at the signing ceremony.
