D.C. INAUGURATION: Iowa Students Attend
President Obama will officially take the oath of office Sunday but the grand celebration isn't until Monday.Preparations are underway for the president's second inaugural ceremony.Organizers expect more than half a million people to attend the event.Although that's only a quarter as many as four years ago it would still be the largest crowd ever for a second swearing in.Among those in the crowd will be a group of 20 Iowa students from Union High School."How many kids can say that they went to see the first black president get sworn in for a second term and go pretty much for free to all of the museums and just have a blast doing it?” Asked Union student. Sophie Thomsen, “I don't think a lot can say that, and there's only gonna be 19 or 20 from my school so, it gives me a little bit of bragging rights (laughs)."Sophie is one of the lucky students packing her bags for D.C. She and her classmates have spent the past year raising money for the $1,800 trip. But the kids say it was worth their time and hard work. Thanks to partner station, KWWL.
