Explore Colorado: Search For Wild Mustangs In The Little Book Cliffs
Jennifer Broome takes us in search of wild mustangs in the Little Book Cliffs. The Little Book Cliffs Wild Horse Range is one of only three ranges in the United States set aside specifically to protect wild and free roaming horses. It is public land and you can access it by foot, horseback or four wheel drive high profile vehicle. Little Book Cliffs Wild Horse Range is near Grand Junction. There are about 150 wild mustangs roaming the over 36,000 acre range. Some of the bloodlines of the horses date back to Indian ponies when Ute Indians settled in the area.
