Westminster seeks donations for $150,000 park to honor Jessica Ridgeway
WESTMINSTER, Colo. -- If the city can raise $150,000 in the next two months, Westminster officials say they will build a memorial park that slain 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway would have loved. The park would include a heavy dose of the child's favorite color, purple, jokes inscribed on garden beds and a safe play structure inspired by the zipline."If we don't raise all the money, we won't be able to build all the elements, but we'll still have a terrific park," Tripp told the Denver Post. That is thanks to a few generous contributions already received for the project, the total cost of which is expected to be $450,000. The city has already committed $200,000 to renovate existing Chelsea Park at 10765 Moore Street, which will be renamed the Jessica Ridgeway Memorial Park. A $100,000 donation from the Jefferson County Commission's conservation-trust fund has also given the project a boost.Want to get in on the effort to aid Jessica's Park?
