Republican Mike Kopp will join GOP gubernatorial field
DENVER -- Former Senate Minority Leader Mike Kopp filed papers Tuesday to join the growing field of Republican candidates vying to challenge Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper next year. Kopp said he's planning a formal announcement "in the coming days." The move, first reported by the Denver Post Tuesday, comes as no surprise; FOX31 Denver reported last week that Kopp was all but certain to run in a story also reporting Arapahoe County District Attorney George Brauchler, tasked with prosecuting a death penalty case against Aurora theater gunman James Holmes next year, is unlikely to be able to run.
