Suspect in Venice Beach boardwalk incident committed crimes in Colorado
DENVER -- The driver who sped down California's Venice Beach boardwalk this weekend lived in Colorado at least as recently as 2012 and had multiple run-ins with the law here, court documents show. Nathan Campbell, described by Los Angeles police as a transient, was arrested at least twice in Denver in 2009; once for shoplifting and once for trespassing. He was convicted and spent a handful of days in jail on each occasion, according to court papers.
