CHL Carter Verhaeghe continues to disappoint in his fourth season as a Niagara IceDog. At this time last year he was one of the OHL's leading scorers and ended the campaign with 82 points in 65 games. It appears the loss of his trigger man Brendan Perlini, injured during the Arizona Coyotes training camp, has had a devastating affect on Verhaeghe's offensive game. While the IceDogs have been playing better of late, winning 4 of their last 5, Verhaeghe has not regained his better than a point-per-game scoring pace of last season, recording just 1 goal and 2 assists in those 5 games. Let's hope, as Leafs fans, that he can find his scoring touch soon.
