Rivers Alive 2013 - Keep Roswell Beautiful, Roswell, GA
Every September, Keep Roswell Beautiful teams up with the City of Roswell, the Chattahoochee Nature Center, the City of Alpharetta and the Alpharetta Natural Resources Commission to be part of Rivers Alive, Georgia’s annual river clean-up. Our state’s 70,100+ miles of rivers and streams need our help to remain viable resources for drinking water, recreation, and places of natural beauty. The Chattahoochee is an especially important waterway in Georgia, so those of us fortunate enough to live nearby have both the responsibility and privilege to take care of it. This year, Roswell volunteers lent a hand from 8:30 AM until 11 AM with privet removal (privet is an invasive shrub) and litter pick-up at Riverside Park and the surrounding areas. Afterward, everyone enjoyed a cookout at Riverside Park. Our business partners in this endeavor were Harry’s Farmers Market, SuperTARGET, Starbucks, Kiwanis Club of Historic Roswell, and Windward Rotary. A special thanks to them for their support! The Rivers Alive project is perfect for volunteers across the board: non-profits, corporations, community and civic groups, school groups, scouts, faith-based groups, individuals, and others looking to serve their community.
