What is hypnotherapy? Hypnotherapy is a safe, credible and scientifically researched form of modern psychotherapy. It can be effective in helping people with all sorts of emotional issues, from helping alleviate depression and anxiety to boosting confidence and self esteem, tackling fears and phobias and helping with addictions including smoking, alcohol and drugs, aiding weight loss and improving sports performance. Will I lose control? No. You will not lose control in any sense. Hypnotherapy is very different to stage hypnosis which you might have seen on television. The aim of hypnotherapy is to achieve a very focused state of attention, in which for the most part outside stimulus is blocked out. Once we are in this very relaxed state of mind, we have access to the subconscious mind, which is highly susceptible to suggestion and possesses the creative ability to come up with new solutions and ideas. We will use this process to help alter any distorted or negative thought processes
