It's London Fashion Week Men's, and while all eyes are technically on the runways where British designers are showcasing their latest collections, we just can’t get enough of the faces that are helping to showcase the collection. MARCELL – QASIMI AW19New Face Marcell took to the catwalk on Saturday 5th January for the Qasimi show.Qasimi is the work of Khalid Al Qasimi originally from the United Arab Emirates but based both in London and Sharjah. The brand, founded in 2008, started out as a Womenswear label but began making men’s clothing in 2009 when the brand was offered a chance to take part in Paris Menswear week. Qasimi stands out from the crowded menswear market in London because of its approach to design, which sees the brand blend Middle Eastern influences with a distinctly London outlook, an evergreen military influence that goes beyond recreating the M-65 jacket and a focus on including politics into the brand.To catch the full show and to see Marcell in action, then follow the link [HERE]BLISS – ICEBURG AW19Since bringing the Italian label to London in June 2018, Creative Director James Long has been infusing his British aesthetic into each step of the design.For AW19, this meant delving deep into the Iceberg archives to bring back bright and beautiful 80s prints, but this time with a British punk grunge attitude.With a mixture of male and female models hitting the show off and all looking amazing – especially IMM New Face Bliss.KEVIN&KARLON - LABRUM LONDON The iconic IMM twins, Kevin & Karlon had the pleasure of walking the catwalk for London based designer Labrum this weekend.Founded in 2014, Labrum is a modern-day brand creating directional menswear and accessories.The word LABRUM is a latin term for ‘having an edge’, and this sits at the heart of the brand’s mission – to make honest, practical clothing rooted in simplicity, fit and a passion for detail.Driven by a desire to create looks that are wearable yet idiosyncratic, and inspired by a lifetime of travel, exploration and pilgrimage. LABRUM delivers innovative garments with an uncompromising commitment to quality and design.A utilitarian approach fused with British tailoring and subtle touches from a truly global palette creates a design recipe that is clean, sophisticated and unique.FAROUK - BETHANY WILLIAMS LONDONNew Face Farouk helped Bethany Williams showcase her amazing collection at the London Fashion Week Festival on Monday 9th January.Each season sustainability becomes more of a talking point at fashion week but whereas some have in the past used it as a gimmick Bethany Williams is committed to creating clothes that benefit not only the environment but also the social welfare of those involved in the production. And thank god for her, it’s only a shame that more designers aren’t as committed as Williams.In past seasons Williams has worked with food banks to create new fabrics and raise awareness of the versatility of sustainability, and last season she teamed up with the Quaker Homeless Action charity library to give books to people that don’t have a fixed address – a deal breaker for borrowing books from the library otherwise. Williams production too takes into account her altruistic nature – she works with LCF’s ‘Making For Change’ programme which supports the training of women in Downview Prison. It’s not a stretch to say that Williams is probably the most selfless designer working in London today.For AW19 this ethos is still front and centre of Williams. collection. Titled ‘Adelaide House’ the designer worked in collaboration with Adelaide House, a women’s shelter in Liverpool that provides a safe haven for women’s being rehabilitated post prison. Fabric has been created using waste product from Liverpool’s The Echo Newspaper and illustrator Giorgia Chiarion has even illustrated some of these women onto the collection itself, while 20% of profits from the collection will go directly towards continuing to support Adelaide House IMM TEAMxx
