Toyota recalls millions of Prius hybrids
Toyota is recalling 1.9 million of its popular Prius hybrids worldwide. The car maker says there's a software glitch with its engine control unit. The software problem causes a glitchy boost converter, which can lead to overheating that can, in turn, damage or deform transistors, Toyota said. This can lead to the car entering a failsafe mode, where it can still be driven while at reduced power. In limited cases, the hybrid system could shut down and cause the vehicle to stop.
