California’s Only Wolverine Appears to be Thriving Near Truckee
RENO, Nev. (AP) _ Researchers say a wolverine appears to be thriving in the northern Sierra Nevada seven years after being confirmed as the first one in California since 1922. California Department of Fish and Wildlife biologist Chris Stermer says more than two dozen documented sightings of the solitary predator have occurred since it was first observed in March 2008 about 15 miles northwest of Truckee, California.
