MONTHLY MUSIC PICKS - MAY 2015 - COLLEEN'S TRAVEL BLOG
Source A few days late on my May music recap, but who’s counting? I’ve been hella busy at work getting everything ready to leave – my last day is on Friday! I am also trying resort my remaining possessions before I leave for LA. I am trying to decide what I need to take right away, and what my mom can ship to me in a few months. But then I’m like, if I don’t need it for a few months, do I need it at all? Decisions, decisions.Anyhow, to the tunes! I was on vacation in Florida earlier in the month, so these are all songs for chilling by the pool with a Coco Mojito in hand. Snoop Dogg ft. Stevie Wonder – California Roll If you read this blog at all, you know that I’m moving to California in, like, a week, so it’s pretty much perfect timing for this song to be released. Plus Stevie Wonder is in it, so that’s always a plus. You can be a movie star! You can get yourself a medical card! It just makes me so amped up to be in LA. Django Django – 4000 Years Django Django – Found You I’ve been OBSESSED with Django Django’s new Born Under Saturn album. I’ve featured songs from this album on my February and March favorites as well. Now the whole album is out, and it’s as rad as the singles. For me, Django Django is where I thought that Animal Collective might go after Merriweather Post Pavilion but then they just…didn’t. I’ve pretty much just been driving around listening to this. I’m so excited to see them at the Mayan Theater in LA in August. Is anyone else going? I saw them a few years ago and it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to, so if you’re in the area you should check them out. Beyoncé & Andre 3000 with Kanye West – Party Twista with Kanye West – Overnight Celebrity In anticipation of a new Kanye album, I’ve been working my way through his Wikipedia discography page and listening to like every track he’s ever collaborated on. These are two of my favorites. This Twista track just brings me back to high school, with the classic Kanye sped-up soul samples. And then Beyoncé is just Beyoncé. Can I tell you guys a secret though? I haven’t listened to Beyoncé…
