Mooncakes (月饼) are baked round pastries, with thick, rich and sweet pastes (red bean or lotus seed paste), and can be wrapped with salted egg yolks. They are traditionally eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋節). There are different types of mooncakes, depending on the dialect groups.
