Linking Amazon Within Your Mobile App – It’s easy to do!
Event tickets and branded merchandise make for amazing local gift ideas. But more people are going to shop for toys, clothes, gadgets, and everything else on Amazon.com. If you aren’t participating in programs such as the Amazon Associates Affiliate Program, you could be missing out on generating extra revenue. Why not let your patrons know that shopping through your Amazon Associates affiliate link will, at the same time, help support their favorite arts organization? This is useful all year round but crucial during the holiday season. Follow these three (3) tips to get started: 1. Sign up on Amazon Associates to join their affiliate program. Visit https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/ to get started. Setting up your Amazon Associate affiliate program When Amazon asks you for Websites and Mobile App URLs where the affiliate link will be displayed, be sure to include your standard website and your InstantEncore mobile website URL (http://username.instantencore.com/app) under Websites and links to your Native App on iTunes and Google Play under Mobile App URLs. You can find these links by logging in to your Control Panel, hovering your mouse over “iOS” and “Android” on the Dashboard, and right-clicking to find the “Copy link address” option. 2. Integrate your Amazon Affiliate link in to your App. First, create a Custom HTML tab in your App called, “Buy on Amazon” or something similar. On this page, include a brief introductory sentence to let your patrons know that shopping through this link will help support the organization. In your Amazon Associate control panel, go to Product Linking -> Banners -> Rotating Banner Campaigns by Category -> Home Page Link (2016). Select the 300 x 250 sized banner and copy the default iFrame embed code. Next, go back to your Custom HTML tab, switch the editor to the HTML view, and paste in the iFrame embed code below your introductory sentence. You can also setup a custom slide (if you use the Home: Slideshow tab) or a custom card (if you use the Home: Cards tab) that links to this tab to give it even more visibility. 3. Schedule Push Notifications for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and other times throughout the year. Now that your Amazon tab is all set up and your patrons have a way to help support you, it’s time to let them know that they can! Schedule some push notifications to arrive the day before or early on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Schedule the message so you don’t have to get up at 7:00am to send it yourself! Black Friday Message Example “Skip the lines and crowds! Tap here to learn how you can shop online and help support us.” Cyber Monday Message Example “It’s Cyber Monday! Tap here to cross those names off your list while contributing to the Arts.” Other times “Birthday shopping for someone special? Tap here to find the perfect gift and support the Arts.” Hint: According to a recent study, the most popular birthdays are in mid-September, so send a message like this in August to help people prepare. With the 100 character limit, you will need to keep your message short and to the point. Don’t waste characters trying to explain the Amazon Associate link, just get them excited about how they can support you while doing their everyday shopping. The introduction on your custom tab will do the rest. Bonus Tip Make sure your organization is also registered with AmazonSmile. Users have to specifically shop on smile.amazon.com and have you selected as their 501(c)(3) charity. Amazon will provide you with marketing tools such as a website banner, social sharing widgets, and a special link to your AmazonSmile landing page.
