One Year Ago Today
On this day last year, I was standing on a wet escalator in the Washington D.C. metro when I broke my right foot. Without getting too graphic, I'll just say that my body tumbled forward (down the escalator) while my foot stayed back. I was in a cast for about 6 weeks, and I became totally dependent on my left foot which hurt so badly before the fall that I visited a podiatrist on a few occasions. March was not an easy month. But, looking back, I think that my broken foot is one of the biggest reasons I walked into my first Weight Watchers meeting. Less than a week after I broke my foot, I had four friends visit from Oklahoma. I rented a wheelchair so they could push me around Manhattan as I showed them Time's Square, Grand Central and the other famous spots in the city.
