Caribbean Boxing Showdown set for December 16 | 10th Year Seniors
Professional boxing will return to the capital again next month, in the form of a three-fight card hosted by Sports Nutrition Products Bahamas and headlined by Bahamian lightweight champion Meacher "Major Payne" Major. Action is set for December 16 at Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium. In the eight-round main event, Major will take on Puerto Rican Alex Perez The fight will be Major's second since returning from a severe foot injury that he suffered back in 2014 in a bout with Brazilian Roger Rosa. "Firstly I'd like to give God the praise. Without him, I would not be doing what I love," said Major. "I feel much better now, compared to my last fight in April. There is little doubt in my mind about my injury. I'm fully healed and there is no doubt within myself. "I never dreamed I would still be fighting at the age of 35, which is old for a boxer.
