1 April 2015 – Lao People’s Democratic Republic became the first country to use support from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance to protect its children from Japanese encephalitis. WHO, as a co-founder of Gavi and the UN's specialist agency providing leadership on global health issues, is a key policy influence and implementing partner.
