Puerto Ricans celebrate after governor announces his resignation
Puerto Rico embattled Governor Ricardo Rosselló announced his resignation on Wednesday evening. His resignation comes after days of public protests demanding he step down after texts between the Governor and his aides were leaked and revealed homophobic and misogynistic messages, corruption, and the mocking of Hurricane Maria victims. The news also comes after attorneys commissioned by Puerto Rico's House of Representatives found five offenses that constituted grounds for impeachment. He announced his resignation in a Facebook live video saying, 'apologizing is not enough'. His resignation will take effect August 2 at 5pm.
