Star Spangled Banner Commemorative Ornament (Collector's Item)
This shining Ornament was made to commemorate our national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner. It is part of a vintage collection that is hand engraved in metal and made to last. The lyrics to the song come from Defence of Fort M'Henry which is a poem written on September 14, 1814, by the then 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet Francis Scott Key. It was written after he witnessed the bombardment of Fort McHenry by British ships of the Royal Navy in Baltimore Harbor during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812. The design features the US Flag with 15 stars and 15 stripes, flying triumphantly above the fort during the U.S. victory.
