Saturday Morning tid-bits
There isn't much going on in Phillies land as we speak. Yesterday's announcement of the structure of the baseball operations department was the first big step in the club's offseason plan. I know there was a lot of speculation about a potential mass exodus once Ruben Amaro Jr. got the job over Mike Arbuckle, but that didn't happen. Amaro has surrounded himself with a ton of big league experience, particularly in new assistant general managers Benny Looper and Chuck Lamar. Looper is a former Gillick colleague who left the Mariners this fall. Lamar is the former GM of the Rays who has spent the last season working in the Phillies scouting department. Both men bring impressive resumes to the table.
