One of my many favorite things about Riza Hawkeye is that, in a setting full of essentially magic-powered soldiers and terrorists, she is one of THE most effective characters while being armed only with the power of Gun

The main thing she’s armed with is her own competency.  Let’s face it, you could hand her a slingshot and she’d be just as effective.

I bought the Giovanni style pants in pokemon go, it was time for a wardrobe update afterall.  And there was a pop up that said “You have acquired Giovanni’s pants.”  And I just.....well now I can only picture Spark sneaking onto that balloon of his, and just nabbing his pants.

Does anyone else hyperfixate on certain ships to the point where you only want to consume fanfics for that ship because reading others feels like some form of cross contamination. Then you inevitably get tired of that ship and move on to another until you eventually circle back to the original ship?

The other circle of life

finished Dororo the other day.

Loved all of it, but especially Tahomaru.

He was so brave, and so caring of all of his people.  He stood up to his father when he learned about Hyakkimaru’s birth and the loss of his limbs.

Yeah, he made some bad decisions.  Understandable but bad.

But his last act was defying a really powerful demon and returning something to his brother he had tried to kill like ten seconds before.

LIghthouse keepers will never be memorialized like soldiers or cops because they didn’t kill anyone (as part of their job) but they’re like, heroes who saved untold lives through discipline and self-sacrifice doing an impossible lonely job and I’m worked up about  it

Clinging to a swaying tower in freezing, driving rain, risking death by everything from pneumonia to a fall to a fucking lightning strike to keep the lantern going when you don’t even KNOW if someone is out on the water!! Working! Class! Heroes!

Love very much the sentiment of this post and also love the specific wording of “didn’t kill anyone (as part of their job)” because what lighthouse keepers did off hours is their own business

If it’s not near the light, it’s out of sight

Avatar thoughts: Avatars being fit for their times, Aang

This isn’t as long as my thoughts on Kyoshi being fit for her times.  I’ve read a few places about Aang being what was needed because air is the element of freedom.  And I don’t disagree with that.  But I think it’s actually more complicated.

It’s useless to play the what if game of if he hadn’t gotten frozen in an iceberg and faced the invasion of the fire nation when it happened.  Liklihood is he would have died.

But after 100 years of strife, he had something no one else in that world had.  He knew a world without war.  He knew peace.

Any Avatar we know of could have stopped Ozai, several would have killed him.  But what then? You’ve ended a war.  But what’s next.  Aang was what the world needed then.  Someone who knew peace, and knew how to communicate and compromise.

Fighting is easy when it’s all you’ve known.  That’s why Aang was fit for his times, so he could lead them down a new path.
