(Beginning my return to this blog with my favourite uni work from the past 2 years)

Finished art from a first year concept major paper, where I designed a creature based on mythology from my background, and was given an additional "visiting" creature designed by another classmate.

My creature is the witte wieven, or "white/wise woman", from Dutch folklore, the visiting creature is a lindworm. I'm still really fond of how this assignment turned out :>

It’s the witte wieven! These are dutch mythological spirits that appear in the mist ~ painted this for the secret santa event in my discord community, which was so much fun and so wholesome! If you want to join the community, sign up to my patreon ❤️

DONE.  For followers, this was the comic that I lost my script/thumbnails.  While this isn’t what it was originally, it’s pretty close and I think in some ways closer to the original theme of appreciating the people/moments that stand out against a bleak stretch.  With current events being what they are, I thought it was nice to write something on that thought.

Apparently Celegorm and Finrod were the same character at one point earlier in Tolkien’s works and honestly it explains so much about the things I found odd/strange about Beren and Luthien/The Lay of Leithian in the broader context of the Silmarillion.

I find the idea of this proto-Celegorm/Finrod being forced to choose between two simultaneous and contradictory oaths to be extremely compelling. In a way I’m kind of sad that Tolkien didn’t stick with it, but I also love both Celegorm and Finrod as characters independently and it’s hard to imagine the Silmarillion without Finrod proper. However this definitely explains where the werewolf throat removal idea came from.

I attached the article by Dawn Felagund from the Silmarillion Writer’s Guild below.

Previous year my biggest crush canon was "The Silmarillion" by J.R.R. Tolkien, specifically the story of Fёanor's sons. So here I am. Before and After All that they had before turned into ashes, only bloody Silmaril burnt Maglor`s hand in the end.

Cenotaph Cenotaph is some kind of symbolical grave where is no one to be buried. In my mind one is ready to let their deceased ones go when it seems that their grave has become empty. Maybe before it was a real grave of Maedhros' and Maglor's brothers but life goes on and now it feels empty indeed.

Beyond Sorrow Maglor plays Noldolantë and his kantele laments about all the loses and regrets of his with quenya word nainië (lament). But his heart still hopes for the reunion of all Eldar and forgiveness from Valar and Eru in Arda Envinyanta and sings with quenya word estel (hope).

brothers in arms

for khazad week day 1, i combined the prompts “family” and “first age” to write this triple drabble about azaghal and family.
warning for major character death - it’s the nirnaeth.

Here is the truth that Azaghâl knows. To be a Dwarven warrior is to be alone.

Our grocery store has a Perishable Manager and a Non-Perishable Manager and I know it’s talking about the departments they oversee but really it seems like Seth may be mortal but David will never die
