So a coach is paying me + a friend to film the football games for him so he can review the players’ performance (which has consistently been less than stellar).
Unfortunately, one game was half an hour away and my parents didn’t want to drive that far, so they asked if I could hitch a ride with the band, since I have a buddy who plays in it.
I ask the band director if that’s cool, and he says that I need to get a note from the office and my parents first.
I get a note from my parents easy after I get home, and then go to the office the next day.
The office sends me to the assistant principal for a note. She then sends me to the coach for a note from him.
I scour the school for the coach for a good while–he doesn’t hang out in an office, he just sort of wanders during his downtime so tracking him down is a bit of a chore.
Eventually locate the coach–aquire note. Proceed to give note to assistant principal. Aquire note from her.
Take all three notes to the band director– explicit permission from three people stating that I can ride with the band to the football game.
The next day, THE DAY OF THE GAME, the band director returns all three notes to me at the end of the school day.
“I don’t feel like I should be responsible for you,” is his feeble excuse.
So he can take responsibility for 15+ band kids, but decides at the very last minute to turn down literally one extra kid who just needs a ride and will otherwise stay out of his hair.
My parents ended up having to drive me that night, but needless to say, we were all incredibly peeved.
