This poll is a celebration of fandom history; we're aware that there are certain issues with many of the listed pairings and sources, but they are a part of that history. Please do not take this as an endorsement, and refrain from harassment.
OTW turns 16 today and we're asking you to help us celebrate by taking our user survey! Read more and help us signal boost! https://otw.news/9ue
So I was made to feel old today...
Two decades today
Something good to work one’s way through, ep by ep or a la binge.
How it starts vs. how it ends (inspired by this post by @yamisnuffles)
If you live in the US and you have a phone you need to keep secret for any reason, make sure that it is turned off at this time.
Yes, I'm doing this months in advance, and yes, my blog has very little reach, but I figure better to post about it more than less.
Please reblog and add better tags than mine, I'm bad at tags.
disney when they spend exactly $2 promoting their new movie and release it during a busy weekend and then it flops
For what it’s worth they papered JFK airport with trailers and ads. And I watched the trailer before spiderverse. Maybe you (hypothetical you) just are not in the demographic they are trying to reach— I had the same experience with Strange World. Is dint even know what it was, whereas my friend who has two small children had seen countless ads and promotion for it.
We can argue they’re spending their moeny unwisely, but trust me, I worked global distribution: nobody wants a bad theatrical release. You won’t cover your budget and p&a spend. Plus I want to address something in the comments — “taking it out of theaters early to out it on streamer” isn’t possible. It’s not up to Disney once you’ve locked in your theatrical release window. Those contracts exist and won’t be renegotiated. You say your movie will have a 40 days theater release window, the exhibitors get it for that long and whether they pull it or not it’s on them. They (AMC) won’t recoup cost or save money if they stop showing it.
And Disney has already sold it abroad and everywhere from now till 2028, I promise you. Every window for big budget movies like this one is pre-negotiated and pre-sold before theatrical BECAUSE you don’t want to lose money if it doesn’t do well in theaters.
I know residuals are a hot topic rn, but that is something that is more pressing (and has more impact) on TV shows. Residuals for movies aren’t what actors or talent bank on bc it is a one and done. The reason why Haunted house isn’t doing well it’s the lack of promotion to anyone who isn’t a family head (moms) bc they deemed this a “family” movie and it is a bit too scary for kids under 8. One could argue they missed out the target audience entirely sure — and Disney is known to do that — but I would not start throwing words around like residuals just because you’ve read a couple of SAG and WGA strike posts.
The industry is very complex actually and the biggest problem the WGA has with streaming is how they destroyed the TV writers room and TV writing as a whole— not so much for features. Feature writers have entirely different asks in the negotiations.
I appreciate all of y’all support, truly, but if you want to change the fatwa of these movies, be the word of mouth that makes it go around. That is the only way to fix a poor marketing plan.
People are starting to re-discover there's a Good Omens musical.
It's been in work for nearly 10 years now. Sorry there is no video beyond the bits the team in Australia has put out and there hasn't been any updates in a while.
In 1827 Crowley gets pulled down to hell, presumably for preventing someone from committing suicide and making sure they were set up with money for a proper life. After which Aziraphale says "that was the last I was to see of Crowley for quite some time" ...
... the next time we see them it's 35 years later and they're asking for holy water.
my little angst goblin brain want's to know what happened so badly
if there’s one thing season 2 showed us it’s that of course crowley’s love language is acts of service. crowley who comes from hell, a place designed to make existence as tedious and miserable as possible through cramped dirty offices and every inconvenience imaginable. and of course aziraphale’s love language is physical touch. aziraphale who comes from heaven, a place of infinite flat, impersonal office space, inhabited by angels so averse to any sort of contact (emotional or otherwise) that they struggle to touch material items and turn their noses up at food and drink. and of course aziraphale and crowley meet each other and think to themselves i’m not going to make you suffer with that, you deserve more, i’m going to give you what i wasn’t.
Culminating in Crowley kissing the fuck out of him and Aziraphale offering Crowley the biggest act of service he can think of.
And they both miss.
I’m going to shake them.
I GOT A FUCKING RAISE THE POTATO WORKED WTF
This potato works. Every. Fucking. Time.
Reblogging because it’s a damn potato and I want to encourage people to assume potatoes are magical.
w-what if potato is actually lucky
Watch the X-Ray bonus features if you can. This is also a metric they track to judge a show’s performance.
After the first season of Good Omens in 2019 I made a break up playlist because I live for the angst. I broke out the tracks that are particularly painful now and I'm not sorry.
People were asking me what counts to help get Season 3 made. And the answer is, 1) people watching S2 and watching it to the end, 2) people who haven't watched Good Omens before watching Good Omens, which very much includes Season 1.
So if you know people who haven't seen Season 1, get them to watch it. And if you are at the homes of people with Prime Video who have never seen Good Omens, this is your chance to introduce them to the world of Good Omens while helping make a statistic that the algorithm people are following.
Is there a time frame important? Like does it have to be during the first month of airing or something ?
Yes. With Sandman it was a four-month process to get renewed, but with Good Omens we will know if we've been renewed or not pretty fast. Or at least, Amazon will know. They may have to wait for the Strikes to be done before they tell us, though.
The difference in reaction when you tell abled people that you got a diagnosis vs telling disabled people is so funny to me.
Abled people: Oh nooo :( I’m so sorry that’s awful
Disabled people: FUCK YEAH congrats dude!!
