Things they don’t tell you about top surgery
- Talk to the surgeon about the size you want your new areolas/nipples (don’t be afraid to ask)
- Numbness. No one talks about this for guys who are about to have surgery. You’re going to be numb all in your chest area, especially where the incisions were. They cut nerves as they pass along your chest, and it can take up to a year to regenerate those nerves. Still, feels super foreign for the first two weeks
- Make your bed into a pillow chair, body pillow, two on each side, and two for your head.
- Sleep alone. I tried to sleep with my girlfriend and it was miserable. You really do need the entire bed for yourself
- Go on Groupon, & get yourself a 10 foot lightning cable iPhone charger, BEST THING EVER, can reach from wherever you are
- Don’t take a week off from work, take two. You will regret the one week, and love the extra time
- When they say “don’t move too much, even after the first week”. LISTEN. I moved way too much and got so sore super quickly.
- Drink lots of water & eat if your taking the pain medication, otherwise your stomach feels super funky.
- Get stool softeners, & don’t be afraid to take those babies. Don’t wait a week to poop. you’ll surely regret it.
- The drains are scary & they may hurt while draining or rewrapping your dressings, but once they come out, the second they do, its no more pain, its crazy.
i hope this helps someone, because i wish i knew all of this when i was having mine a month ago. Looking back its like everyone forgets all the real negatives, its a great experience, & i healed very well & quick compared to most, but the first few days are crazy. They hurt, suck but it gets better.
To the few guys I know having surgery this week!
-the headache you get a couple days after the surgery because the anesthesia is leaving your body hurts 200 times more than the surgery itself. And even that isn’t too bad.
-after a week or, you ITCH. It’s awful. Try not to touch your stitches too much. An ice pack will help.
keeping this for when i get my surgery eventually
Tips!!!
my confidence when my outfit slaps but also makes me dysphoric
My pronouns are That Bastard and my gender is [REDACTED]
trans girls not tucking needs to be seen as a completely normal and nonsexual thing. chasers go die.
trans women’s genitals are not so repulsive that they need to be totally hidden through our clothes at the expense of our health and safety and for the sake of your comfort.
if cis men don’t have to tuck then neither do trans women.
Tucking is way more dangerous than people seem to realize. Tucking can cause irritation, blisters, urinary tract infections, and may increase the chances of getting testicular cancer.
Forcing trans people to tuck is violence.
all of this!! it can also cause inguinal hernias, which is basically when the abdominal muscles in the inguinal cavity (where the testes go when u tuck) weaken and part of ur intestines slip through that wall and either get the blood supply cut off or worse. its fixable with surgery but if left alone can be life threatening.
and like you say, its violence. its society forcing many trans women to choose between either self inflicted violence or violence from a hate crime. trans bodies need to be normalised and accepted. we deserve to live safely and happily.
This includes if said trans girl is wearing a swimsuit/leggings/short shorts
ugh fine my personal blog is not cutting so I’ll post here
DO! NOT! DONATE! TO! AMAZON! CONSERVATION! NGOs! DO NOT!
they don’t act on the root of the problem, they don’t mitigate the effects of deforestation, they do have limited action and they don’t help conserve the forest land outside their very small grounds besides doing little to nothing to help the people who actually live in the amazon and conserve it on a daily basis
DONATE TO THE INDIGENOUS MOVEMENTS INSTEAD
they are organized, they can keep woodcutting companies away from their land, they are getting murdered for it, they are the only reason there is any forest left at all
THIS is a a fund for indigenous peoples of the Amazon (Brasil only)
THIS is a link to donate from abroad to the indigenous women’s march, it has already happened but you can still donate to support the cause
THIS is a link to support the free land camp, and you can email them at apibbsb@gmail.com if you really want to find ways to support them, donations will go to APIB (Brazilian Articulation of Indigenous Peoples) and you can keep up with their news here
(APIB is coordinated by, among others, Sonia Guajajara! so if you know her you know this means shit will get done)
handy little guide for parents!
Heres what I need in terms of supplies:
- Money (prolly not until I get to the point that more people have signed up tho)
- 3 megaphones
- Defense items for the front line
- Toothpaste toothbrushes and soap
- Kids books (spanish and english)
- Places where these kids can temporarily stay until we get in touch with their parents
Obviously not all of these are 100% necessary but it would all make our goals a lot easier
Heres what you can do if you cant provide resources:
- Show up!
- Reblog or spread the Facebook event
- Tell your friends and family
- Join the discord
- Become a co-organizer (DM me)
- Send emails to different left wing organizations, protest organizations, and/or immigration focused organizations (DM me first)
- Drive, offer carpools (DM me)
- Spanish translators (DM me)
- Help me contact parents (DM me)
- Help fundraise (DM me)
- Offer whatever forms of help you can think of (DM me)
- Bring the weed for your car. I'm just kidding obviously... unless... lmao nah... or??? 😏🤨🤔😎
- Bring your best attitude! Be ready for anything.
Reblogging this to here because I have an OKAY amount of followers here. Please don’t scroll past and reblog to help if you aren’t able to do much /: I know it sucks feeling useless with this stuff, but spreading it so people show up is important
these photos of casa susanna were the first pictures i ever saw of trans women in the past and theyve been important to me since coming out
these pictures are very rare and very important.
Read the full story of Casa Susanna here.
he/him & they/them lesbians… this one’s for u:
After reading some of the comments on this post I feel it's necessary for me to speak on this as a gender non-conforming person (nonbinary). Being gender non-conforming comes in many forms, wearing clothes labeled for the opposite gender than you identify with, not labeling yourself with a gender at all, and, yes, using pronouns that don't go with the traditional gender associated. The problem I have arises in the lack of clarification and sensitivity within the "he/him lesbian" community. If it weren't a form of being gender non-conforming it would 100% be transphobic, or in the very least very insensitive towards the difficulty trans people face when it comes to pronouns. To clarify, if you are a "he/him lesbian" and you don't think it's a form of gender non-conforming, you could very well be participating in transphobic behavior. It's okay to play with gender and not give a fuck about what it's "supposed to be". It's not okay to be careless when you have the privilege of being a female bodied person who identifies as a woman. Absolutely, use whatever pronouns you want, no matter your identity, but if you're going to use pronouns that aren't traditional for your gender identity, you need to be sensitive as a cis person to the trans community and what we face.
I. Am. Disgusted. SIGNAL BOOST this!! This is unacceptable! We need to remember what pride is and what we stand for.
The gall of these people trying to call the cops on a black trans woman at the Stonewall Inn on the very anniversary of the riot (I'm sure they totally understood the irony of it) and then call her the fascist.
It's beyond parody. This is why I'm sick of Pride being treated as a corporate party rather than a protest and why we need to teach the history of our movement because this is either appalling ignorance or outright and open bigotry.

“The idea of two sexes is simplistic. Biologists now think there is a wider spectrum than that.”
As a biologist I am reblogging this so hard.
Biological sex is not and has never been a binary. The complexity of the natural world cannot be contained in neat little societal boxes. Stop using science to justify your bigotry.

so you’ve probably seen the post going around detailing the horrific human rights abuses in what are, undeniably, concentration camps in the US…. accompanied by the suggestion that the only thing you can do is call your senators.
it’s unfathomable to me that someone would see we have actual nazi death camps in our country, and think the solution is writing to the politicians who allowed it to happen.
i have yet to see a post on any social media that has meaningfully helpful suggestions for how to get involved, so:
this article offers a number of suggestions including getting involved with your local chapter of Sanctuary Not Deportation, which connects faith groups to offer sanctuary to immigrants fleeing ICE. it also has a comprehensive list of immigrant-lead organizations to get involved with or donate to, as well as a link to crowdfund for detainee’s phone bills, which allows them to contact their families, legal counsel, and inform the outside world of the realities they are facing in detention.
here is a link for finding detention centers near you. there are many rallies directly outside of these camps you can participate in, and physically going to them is crucial in liberation efforts.
posting bond for detained immigrants is still one of the best ways to get people out of the death camps, even though ICE is increasingly unwilling to participate. the linked article has a list of both federal and state-by-state bail funds/organizations.
host a refugee if you have the room. Room For Refugees is still trying to build a network in the US. keeping people out of ICE’s grip and preventing detention in the first place is the best thing we can do because these camps are becoming more and more impenetrable.
help the legal organizations helping immigrants near you; if you’re anywhere close to NYC the New Sanctuary Coalition needs volunteers/donations, and if you’re on the border get involved with Texas Civil Rights Project.
on top of free legal aid, the NSC specifically also organizes rapid responses to ICE raids, which is one of the most important things you can do – there are many local networks already in place, but here is how to organize a rapid response network if your city doesn’t have one.
one of the easiest things we can all do is learn the rights of immigrants in this country, and how to react to ICE raids. spread this information to everyone you know and keep the toolkit in easy access on your phone.
the only government policy that can make an immediate and tangible impact is municipal policy; push your local politicians to support or build sanctuary city initiatives – here is a toolkit for local political action.
finally, get involved with local antifa and leftist orgs! follow their social media to get updates on calls to action and protests happening near you. i cannot stress enough how important it is to be aware of efforts in your own city. antifa international’s tumblr is one page you can follow, but please research the orgs specifically in your area that are fighting the rise of fascism. the torch network has a list of chapters in several cities around the US, but again this is just a place to start.
i encourage everyone to find at least ONE thing from this list you can do, beyond donating. i know we are all stressed and have our time/energy zapped by capitalism, but if we do nothing, nothing will change. and please share these links wherever you can – copy and paste this post or at least share the first article i linked.
fascism is here, NOW, and we need to step up, because no one is going to invade us to free the camps this time.
Boosting twice because I can and have been trying to find out what I can do that is useful because the fuckheads and office are NOT going to listen. And yes, ain’t no one going to invade us and put a stop to it. We gotta do this y'all.
not to be a person of color, but white people really got me feeling like i somehow can’t be a poc and lgbt at the same time. like there is SOOOOO much racism in the lgbt community (antiblackness especially) and erasure of lgbt poc that my brain literally slips sometimes and associates being gay with whiteness because you pea-brained motherfuckers never fucking show us anything else. i’m friends with someone who, before figuring out who they were, literally didn’t think they could actually be part of the community because “only white people could be gay.” that was his thought process. i sometimes feel “white” for wanting to wear pride merch or writing about being gay/trans rather than about being a poc as if those two things can’t coexist. at this point, i feel seriously alienated from the community in general… and that infuriates me! this community was literally formed by people of color! US! how the fuck were you all able to whitewash this?
if white people want to reblog this just to like spread awareness or whatever i guess that’s alright, but seriously, don’t even think about commenting. this post doesn’t need your input.
pride icons 1/?
click for better quality!
Just a reminder because apparently people don’t realize this, but the rainbow gay pride flag isn’t like…a gay male pride flag? it was literally meant as a pride flag for everyone in the community. not that there’s anything wrong with specific identities having their own flag, but i keep seeing ppl post flag sets as if the rainbow ride flag only represents gay men and saying that not including every single other flag known in existence means you’re excluding people when no it’s not the rainbow flag is for everyone
I think this is really important for people who are daunted by all the labels and still figuring themselves out. It’s okay. The rainbow flag is yours too
