I'm sure tumblr would never, but hey. No sense tempting fate.

Social media is not private, emails are not private, internet searches are not private, your text messages are not private.

"I use a VPN!" Your ISP can see when you initially connect to a VPN. The VPN company will comply with a subpoena.

"My socials don't have my real name!" What about the email to register that social? What about your wifi provider? They provide the IP address from which you're frequently logging in. Don't they have your information?

Your cell carrier will comply with a subpoena.

You ISP will comply with a subpoena.

So will Google, Apple, Yahoo, Meta, Tumblr, Twitter, you name it. None of them will fight the government on behalf of a random person they don't care about.

This is why fighting for online privacy laws, real actual privacy laws, is so important. It's why using services with end-to-end encryption is so important. It's why if you don't want any chance of law enforcement to know about something, you cannot post about it online in any way.

The messages we recieved growing up about being very careful about what you post online wasn't fear mongering. They just picked a different villain.

This is also why public libraries are so precious, as well as internet cafes, if they even exist anymore.

People complain about how if McDonald’s paid their employees more, they’d charge us more for food and those same people haven’t said a word when McDonald’s dramatically increased their prices over the past few years all while not increasing their employees pay by much at all

whenever you're thinking about 'keeping children safe online' remember that 'parental controls' on internet use (more accurately, domestic spyware) are statistically three times as likely to be keeping a child's abuser informed about them than to be keeping them safe from predatory strangers, because family members account for 30% of CSA perpetrators and strangers account for 10% (the other 60% is split between family friends and acquaintances and people in trusted positions of authority like doctors and priests)

When I worked as a technician, and we saw a client was using any of those applications (either on their devices for tracking, on their childrens/spouses phones for being tracked, or on employees) I would always tell them that those apps are used/invested by Chinese/Russian operatives to collect as much data and report them to their governments, and that the FBI/CIA knew about it and was using their "obvious" vulnerabilities (because America is always better) to spy on their families and loved ones, or that hackers were using those vulnerabilities to spy on their bank account information or to know where their children are. Hits all the main paranoia markers for everyone across the political spectrum, and was very effective at then getting the follow up questions of "How do I get it uninstalled" or "Can you help me get rid of it?". We are the technicians, they called us for our expert opinion. and fuck, I may not have direct evidence, but I can't say that its not happening (it most certainly is).

Finding out that Neil Gaiman fought Harvey Weinstein over changes to Princess Mononoke's US release is like finding out that your favorite sibling also hated that one awful P.E. teacher from high school, and also pulled classic Ferris Buehler-sequence hijinks to piss him off. Godspeed, Neil Gaiman.

We live in a dystopia....

If the background actors don't come in for work because they exist virtually then the background costume and background hair and make up and their catering and transport and all the other departments that look after them get cut too. These things have knock on effects...

„Leave him out of this!“

Guess who’s been an ass to his children again.

Nihil was shitting on Terzo, telling him how useless and worthless he was, then Secondo interfered. He was sick of his father’s neverending terror. He didn’t care much anymore when he was the victim himself, but when Nihil came for his little brother, he wouldn’t hold himself back.

I've read that post that said "The funniest thing about Good Omens is that the Enemies to Friends last 2 minutes and the Friends to Lovers was 6000years." which is true. But, what is even more funny is that in The Sandman it's the opposite : the Enemies to Friends was almost 700y and the Friends to Lovers last no more than 1 week in most fanfiction.
