Stopping the Diary

Janni. She/Her. Used to be "finnemoresome". I am bitter about Wells Jaha.
The great loves of my life are Humans and Cabin Pressure. There’s also going to be Anne with an E, Stranger Things, Dirk Gently and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend here in copious amounts. Among other things, depending on the day.
This is ostensibly a multi-fandom blog, but I complain here quite a lot as well. Feel free to blacklist the tag #shut up janni, to avoid my ramblings.
I am liable to descend into rhyming verse at any given moment. You have been warned.

thinking about that one post that’s like “fitz and the fool are canon but just not out to the author” like I don’t think any literary criticism has ever got something SO right before

I'm on my first read through of Realm of the Elderlings and as a little personal project for myself, I'm taking a scene or small moment from each book in the series and turning it into a comic spread.

I think I'll forever be chasing the high I felt while reading Fool's Errand for the first time. I could have chosen any number of scenes to panel but it just had to be The Reunion. Pg 99-105 changed my brain chemistry.

He was a slender youth, but just as the lightness of his horse prompted one to think of swiftness, so did his slimness call to mind agility rather than fragility. His skin was a sun-kissed gold, as was his hair, and his features were fine. The tawny man approached silently save for the rhythmic striking of his horse's hooves. When he drew near, he reined in his beast with a touch, and sat looking on me with amber eyes. He smiled.

Something turned over in my heart.

Highlighting this panel because I cried while drawing it. I love seeing my boys happy!!!!!

Sometimes I think about Grace in The Woman Who Fell to Earth and remember that between her, Graham, Ryan and Yaz she checks the most ~Companion~ boxes. Like, she was the first face 13 saw, but she also had many Companion traits: proactive, resourceful, figured things out quickly, brave, didn't blindly follow the Doctor's instructions, liked the danger..

and that got her killed pretty much immediately

One thing about the WGA Strike is that Onion article was kinda right. Hollywood shot themselves in the foot with their current standard of cancelling every show people like to produce more and more short-term novelty.

It’s not like we have tons of shows ending on cliffhangers waiting for season six anymore. Due to their greed, they’ve personally taken long-term viewer investment outside and shot it and now they can’t count on it for negotiating power. What are viewers going to be mad about missing out on? The Twilight reboot? Another Star Wars spin-off? Several promising pilot seasons on Netflix with great representation that were already produced and cancelled before they aired and would’ve been even if the strike hadn’t happened?
