It's not just the guns and the gun deaths and the communities in pain, it is the daily existential burden of violent gun culture.
Children are under so much stress so grown men can cosplay at the grocery store with permitless guns and sickening faux machismo.
“Banning guns is a practical and constitutional impossibility. But it is clearly within the federal government’s power to heavily tax bullets and reloading supplies. Eventually the supply will dry up. Dedicate funds to compensating victims of mass shootings. This is doable.”

For anyone wondering, “how does this keep happening in the only major democracy that valorizes guns and allows large numbers of people easy access to war weapons?,” this is last year’s Christmas card from the Congressman who represents the Nashville, TN district that suffered a mass school murder today:
Conservative logic: if no one ever talks about crime, or violence, or racism, or sexism, or homosexuality, or transgender, or drugs, or alcohol, or anything anyone finds objectionable in any way whatsoever, especially to children, they are never issues and no one ever need concern themselves with these (or many other) issues ever again.
Stop the teaching, stop the problem, I guess.
