THE SANTAIRS

This will be a site where I'll post various versions of songs I've written and recorded over the years, mostly done in my home studio. Many of these songs will have been recorded and/or performed by myself, while others are with particular groups. Though I've been in several bands, the most personal one for me is "The Santairs," mainly because I came up with the name, and The Beatles inspired me to come up with the nonsensical name for the group. I combined the groups "The Standells" and "The Corsairs" into "The Santairs." I just rearranged the lettering a little bit. The "videos" I post won't truly be videos, since the songs are what is truly important to me. I've written some songs that would probably fit mainstream, though I've written some songs that most would consider purely garbage. Those particular songs are usually sounds I recorded over the years as a pre-teen and teenager on a cheap mono tape recorder, and I consider them strictly "avant-garde" in nature. I won't shy away from posting anything I consider "artistic" or musical, from the good, the bad, or the ugly (or, to put it another way, from the positive, the negative, to the indifferent.) I've written songs for many different reasons, from someone challenging me to do so, my own broken heart, the birth of my son, my divorce, and just being in a writer's rut. I'm one who never likes censorship of any kind where art is concerned, particularly music, but we each have our own prejudices. Some of my songs you may like, some you may dislike, while others you will think is a total waste of time. I consider these recordings, for any and all reasons, an individual part of my soul, like a living being starting from the beginning at birth and finishing only in the end when one can no longer continue. At the very least, I hope to inspire something positive within you, the listener. (I will also be posting cover songs my group has recorded over the years as well.)
