Jou didn’t think anything Atem did as friend, or pharaoh for that matter, had ever really been pointless. He kept that thought to himself for now, however, as he felt his friend needed to unload a bit of luggage; even if Atem seemed to be at peace with it. Maybe he wanted to make sure Jou knew.
He put a few more nuts in his mouth, chewing silently as the conversation went on. It was kind of strange, he thought, they were talking about something so heavy with much more levity than before. It felt like they reminiscing more than anything, and they were in a way, he supposed.
So here’s what’s going down with me
TL;DR: Finals wrecked my insomniac ass for half of summer vacation, work took up most of my time, and I will be publishing a book while returning to school. Also I will be coming back! :P

He had started munching on small pack of nuts he had found in his bag, using it as a small but welcome distraction. It wasn’t like Jou regretted bringing up the memory, or feelings, the two had shared. There was just something about the way Atem was – like the warm aura of the setting sun on a slow summer day – that simply made you reminisce whether you had wanted to or not; or rather, whether it was intentional or not.
Jou would never actually want to forget those memories, no matter how painful they might’ve once been. He simply didn’t have as many memories as someone as old as Atem did, he felt like he ought to remember all he could.
« I, uh, yeah. I mean, it ain’t like I wrote it down in my diary – or that I would’ve if I had one, ‘cuz I’m not organized enough t’keep track of stuff like that, » he started saying, aware that he was already rambling aimlessly. Jou ate some more nuts, careful to chew before he spoke. As he ate, he offered some to Atem, because he wasn’t a complete jerk, and he wasn’t all that hungry to begin with.
« I just, I dunno, it’s one’a those things I can’t forget… Like when I saw Shizuka after her operation, or graduated high school wit’ the gang… » He shrugged; a bit lost for words at the moment. « Even if I wanted, I think it’ll stick with me ‘til I’m old an’ grey. »
Jou didn’t feel the hurt or disappointment he thought he would feel when he learned of Atem’s habit. It did sting a bit, but that was just how these things were – time healed all wounds, but sometimes it sure did take a lot of time. He allowed himself a smile.
« Well, y’know me, I was never one t’do things half assed. Unless yer talkin’ about homework. Never did get the hang’a that. » He added a little joke for levity; he wanted to show Atem he wasn’t as hurt anymore. Having him in his life as a friend meant more than the what-ifs and all that. « It’s okay, t’not wanna hurt, even if it means not enjoyin’ some things. Better safe, than sorry, I think is how it goes? » He offered Atem a hopefully supportive smile.

Yes! That’s what I’ve been doing this semester (well, and past semester, but whatever): working on a comic that I’m printing and publishing! It has an ISBN and everything!
Set to release April 18th 2019, Columbus is the story of a small dog saving his village from a bear with the helps of the Queen’s Knights!
Set in a high-fantasy, animal world, Columbus features sword fighting, magic, and is absolutely packed with action!

12/3/2019 Status Update
I’ve been wanting to update this blog for a while now, at least since my last post in January. Basically, my honour’s project (a self-published comic book!) and work have been keeping me rather busy – more info under the cut. I wanted to let you guys know I will be back in the week of April 21st 2019, since my semester ends around then. Starting then, I will try to come up here a minimum of 1-2 times a week, since I have a big project coming up during the summer.
In the meanwhile, interested people for semi-regular RP (preferably one-liners to small para) can PM me for my Discord (mutual preferred, but not exclusively).
