Hello! I'm Claire, your local bog witch. This is a personal blog where I collect things that make me happy: art, architecture, history, nature, books and TV. I love Diana Wynne Jones, the Thirteenth Doctor, Good Omens, Wheel of Time, The Locked Tomb, Murderbot, and every period romance.

"Here are some details of the incredible angel roof on the nave at Cawston in Norfolk. The roof dates from c. 1460. On the hammerbeams of the roof stand eleven six-foot tall seraphim, still with much of their original colour on them. Some have their hands in prayer, others in adoration. On the east wall of the nave at the same level as the roof, is the shadow in red ochre of the long-lost great rood cross."

Something that annoys me about all the doctor who fandom discourse from the past few years is that it’s made me become hyper aware of the writing to the point where it’s affecting my enjoyment of the show. I used to just sit down and watch an episode of doctor who and enjoy myself. It didn’t matter if the writing was a bit silly or the plot didn’t make sense because I was having a good time. But now I find myself overanalysing every scene to figure out whether it’s “good” or “bad” writing and honing in on each showrunners’ flaws to prove to myself that the Chibnall era wasn’t worse than all the other eras. And it shouldn’t matter!! I enjoyed the Chibnall era. It made me excited about doctor who again for the first time in years. I don’t have to prove to anyone that it was enjoyable. And yet.
