So close to done 😔 I want to know the end but I don’t want this book to end. I’m just glad my bad book streak is broken for now though

Edit: I finished it I am sooo sad 😭 I want more of this world and characters.

I hate the feel of sunscreen and the only one that has ever seemed to soak in without being greasy and still work for me is the neutrogena 30spf one that's for your face but i just put it on everywhere. I have no idea if this is a good suggestion or if you can get it where you live so im sorry and good luck also

Same it’s usually all so slimy and shiny on me. Neutrogena is one of the few brands I hear about more often online that we actually have around here so I’ll check it out, thanks!

is there any pattern in the popular books you dislike? old, newer, writing styles? genre? we gotta get you outta bad book time

I looked through my reading history and I can't find a pattern, it's always something different 😭 but it's mostly been modern lit released in the last few years.

But I had a period up until very recently where I predominantly read dreary contemporary/literary fiction, and somehow I always picked up books with very surface level kiddie pool baby's first leftist politics type of writing. Good 4 people just getting into those topics I guess (when the book actually handled them well) but they did nothing for me! I also noticed that in a lot of them, the main character/s spent lengthy passages monologuing as if they were holding a podium lecture of the book's events, rather than living through them. That kinda detached, self-aware, "I've been to therapy about my problems and can clearly articulate all my issues with [x thing]" type of writing that feels like the book is beating you over the head with The Point and can very much have parts clipped out and inserted into a contextless tumblr web-weaving post just because they sound "cool" or "powerful" (or the author thinks they do). Idk if that makes sense. I prefer books where the central thesis isn't stated outright but is instead shown through the characters' actions/interactions/reactions and plot progression. Anyway I'm not discounting the whole genre but I've banned myself from it for now so I can recover.

That aside it's usually that I've had problems with cliche/bad plot twists, flat characterisation, multi-part books where the first book is just an overextended prologue (looking at the fantasy genre rn), and so forth.. but ik a lot of these can be subjective.

I'm hard to please, but damn it there's gotta be a modern popular book out there that I like.

I understand the size difference fans who want to be destroyed by a hugetall bitch but where’s the rep for us regular-sized bitches trying to wreck a hugetall bitch. Whenever I top my bf I feel like a terrier trying to make it with a great dane and I want to see my experiences reflected by big media

That said I also need to see the part where we’re just settling down to have a good night’s rest and in that exact moment when I’m on the cusp between wakefulness and the sweetest dream I’ll ever have a man the size of a draft horse rolls over onto me in his sleep and crushes half of my internal organs to dust. He also throws his arm out and smacks my nose concave into my skull

This book suddenly going into classic fantasy novel food description territory when I’m at my most starved at work with lunch break still an hour away is some sort of cosmic punishment

Went to the bookstore to take advantage of a sale, got a big discount coupon for the book fair going on, went to the same book store at the fair to use the coupon and they gave me a bigger coupon for in-store so I went back to the bookstore to use it. Final haul, cat for scale (she tried to eat the boxset)

Ihate that ppl seem to need everything explained to them in clear block letter print and need all art to have a clearly conveyed Point like “if I can’t immediately innately understand the Meaning of this art piece it is worthless” or “People shouldn’t have to think too hard to figure out the Meaning of an art piece”, “Art that doesn’t look ‘beautiful’ to me in the traditional sense is a scam” I’m gonna

Hi, i neED you to remember a song you recommended once, please. i don‘t remember anything abt it other than the album being a greyish pale blue and i think there was some dry/dead tree roots on it, or the name of the band being in the style of dead roots

I think you said you were listening to it at work and you didn‘t like it much, so this might be why you deleted the post, but i keep trying to find it and it‘s driving me crazy🙏

I think it might've been Finsterforst - Jenseits! :-) I had a... fraught relationship w/ this album because I listened to it for 5 straight hours at work and got a bad association lmao but then it became something like my dark horse of 2023 and I kept replaying it obsessively for weeks afterwards, & now I love it. (I think the specific song I posted is the first in the album).

If that's not it, I might be able to pinpoint the song if you remember anything abt what it sounded like or what genre/s it might've fallen into? My memory's absolutely terrible about album covers since I listen to so many new things all the time;

I bought a small bottle of the sticky dates shower gel from lush ages ago and I’ve slowy been refilling it since because whenever I pass by the store I go in and make a big show of smelling it and chat with the girlies a bit and they always give me a free sample that I just dump back into the bottle at home
