oil painters watching watercolourists and acrylic painters pour cadmium, titanium, lead, copper sulphates, etc. down the sink because they equate being water soluble with being non toxic:

For anyone worrying about the paints they used in school or lessons: If your teacher did not warn you about the chemicals in the paint it is likely that those classes used NON TOXIC paints suitable for use by younger people and beginners. Non toxic paint does exist and it is widely used! However: when you upgrade to using actual pigments [like Cadmium Yellow instead of your beginner's "Yellow Paint"] that is when you have to start being mindful of the chemical pigments. Just because something is water soluble does NOT mean it's ok to dump into the water system. Go online and find out how to dispose of these chemicals properly!

"dont die" is my favorite thing to tell people when they say theyre gonna go do something. going to the store? dont die. going to the bathroom? don't die. going to Mars? don't die. going to write an email? don't die. driving to the gas station? don't die. it fits every situation except for maybe a funeral visitation because then i think thatd be a little bit rude

RAMP RAMP RAMP RAMP

So like... in case anyone wonders what the cripple tax is like...

This is the same brand and model of ramp minus an extension so like... THIS is why I couldn't leave my house independently before. It was locked behind a 10,000 dollar plus paywall the same way a safe bathroom is. Luckily I finally got access to the VA so I can get it but a lot of people don't have that.

And this is just the modifications to my house, it doesn't even include the cost of a wheelchair and other disability supplies.

part of being an ally to trans men is not being a dick to cis men for their appearance btw

the short trans men hear you. the trans men with bottom growth—or who are post-phalloplasty—hear your bad jokes about small dicks. the trans men undergoing hrt who are losing their hair hear you talk shit about bald spots.

The trans men whose facial hair is still growing in hear you using “neckbeard” as a synonym for “misogynist”

whenever I can’t find the will to do something i pretend i’m an anxious horse and someone is gently speaking to me in soft words and guiding me through it with patience. And then I don’t do it because I’m a horse and horses can’t do shit like send emails

i wore red eyeshadow today and this lil mexican boy like 10 yrs old had his silver chain and hat and was all puffed up machismo but got all shy walkin over to the counter and was like “i really love your eyeshadow” in the most genuine awestruck voice. can’t believe i almost didn’t wear it. i almost missed out on bein “masc mexican dude wearing makeup” representation my heart was so full

im gonna CRY at a crosswalk these two older tough lookin dudes were waitin and one looks back at me and gives me a long unreadable look and i was in the bad part of the city so i was like ah. shit. but then he looked away and reached out to hold the other guys hand. i love bein queer so much i can’t handle this

Something unexpected happened during Tim's walk the other day

You see, Leon is afraid to go outside, despite being harness trained. So when we walk Tim, we leave the side door open so Leon can watch and feel included. Usually he just sits politely in the doorway

But then...

He hopped out onto the patio!

At first Jon was like "Oh no I better catch him and put him back!" But I was like. Wait. I'll watch him, you go get his leash

So Jon got Leon harnessed up...

And our nervous little indoor boy came out on the patio to explore! He really loved the gas meter for some reason.

He even went so far as to inspect the back deck and the boys had a strange moment where one of them hissed at the other, but we couldn't tell who?

I think they just weren't used to seeing each other in a new environment and got kerfuffled

Anyway, Leon is learning to be an adventure cat! I'm so proud

*hits blunt* a lot of trans people didn’t actually know their whole lives that they were transgender. plenty of us, with no frame of reference or proper education/exposure to LGBT stuff, had to go through a long process of self reflection and learning and experimenting first before finding the identity that most suited us. the narrative about always having known is real and valid for others, don’t get me wrong, but it also seems to be the one most easily digestible by cis folks who are reluctant to think about the countless different experiences of unique trans individuals
