I know you've answered a million good omens questions before, but I have a friend with homophobic parents who plan on watching it and they were a bit worried about it. So I was wondering if, in your opinion, the queerness in the show is blatant enough that it might cause issue with viewers who's homophobic parents end up watching it? Obviously you can't help or predict how any random person might act but im trying to reasure them and offered to ask you directly. Thank you for taking the time to read this!!
With luck it will creep up on them so by the time they realize that they are surrounded by gay and lesbian and queer characters it will be much too late as they will be enjoying it too much to be offendedly homophobic.
Hi Neil! I know you get a lot of asks but I wanted to thank you for something. Thank you for writing Coraline. The first time I watched it I was eight years old and my mother had dragged me along to her boyfriend’s house and put on a random movie to keep me distracted. That movie was Coraline. It was the first movie that really scared me and at first I didn’t know why. I later realized after years of therapy that it was because it mirrored my own abusive relationship with my mother. I purchased the book recently and cried while reading it. Recovering from my abuse was a long road that I’m still traveling but I like to think that a blue haired girl I’m a raincoat started it all. Thank you sir.
I'm proud of you for travelling that route.
This is a map of the range of all giraffe species. By my count that puts them in just 16 countries out of the 54 in Africa (of which 5 are island countries with no territory on the continental mainland). That's 30%, quite a long way shy of all, and as you can see many of those countries that do have giraffes only have a tiny portion of their territory within giraffes' habitats
Wow, I knew they weren't in "every African country", but I didn't realize just how restricted their range was
Good teachers don't mind saying "I don't know" or that they need to look it up and will get back to you.
Not only that but giraffes in different areas have different patterns and it's so cool

Do Not Do This To Me
so called feminists: "actually women are naturally inferior at everything, including quiz game shows, beauty pageants, chess, and video games. we need a society that is segregated so that anyone who would ever have to potential to win against a woman is eliminated. this is actually far better than organizing sports into weight classes or different athletic/skill level based categories that ignore sex, like what wrestling and video/board game tournaments already do. I cannot accept the reality that men and women are the same species. this is actually how we truly protect women. by calling them weak pathetic losers who could never win against even the worst opponent, and preventing them from even playing at all."
actually conversion I had with one of these nerds:
me: "so you think men are better at literally everything, even things that do not require any physical ability whatsoever?"
terf: "yes! those should still be segregated by sex! males should not be playing against women ever. it's an unfair advantage"
me: "so my brother has an unfair advantage over me when playing fucking monopoly?"
terf: "yes. males are statistically better and managing finances, while women are irresponsible and lenient with spending money."
hey guys. I think the people who are literally unironicly saying "women are bad at money. this means they suck at board games" aren't actually feminists
No joke, that was the rethoric the Francoist regime in Spain used to justify women being legally underage regardless of age and unable to open bank accounts without their husbands or fathers permission. That law was effective until 1975.
I had no idea that chickens could?? float?? or swim??? I don’t know why I’ve never thought of chickens as buoyant. I never picture chickens anywhere near water. what else have I been missing

the crime the criminal
Objection!
Your honor. It's true that a first glance at the evidence would suggest my client was responsible. But let's look a little further, shall we?
I have here a reverse image search for the crime scene as well as my client's photo.
And if you look closely at the results...
The blogs and dates don't match.
My client has been framed!
And why? Because their iconic "mischievous smile" makes for a funnier post, of course. But nothing, not even Tumblr notes, is more important than the truth!
I present to you: The original unaltered post and the true culprit!
I lost it at this:
It’s always important to ask kids “what do you mean?” before potentially getting offended. Like the time a kid told me, dramatically, that he was homophobic. When asked what he meant, he told me he couldn’t breathe in crowded places.
Oh bless he tried real hard with words there
framing this on my mind wall ^
If you can't wash it off, paint over it, replace the item, or buff it out, turn a message of hate into one of love! I would never condone someone to do this discreetly and in mere seconds with a quickly concealed permanent marker, for example on a public bench or bus stop. Certainly not anything like whipping out a tat machine and adding to an unconscious white supremacist's existing tattoo. That would be illegal! :) And, dear followers, I would never encourage you to do something that's illegal. So, please only use this when someone has defaced your personal property to avoid breaking the law! Because that would be illegal, and following in the law is always in everyone's best interest. :) .... :) reblogs and even reposts definitely welcome

One of the most harmful things transphobic feminism has done to feminist discourse as a whole is promoted the idea that trans men don't deserve a voice in feminism, and that if a trans man speaks about feminism, he is "mansplaining".
No, I'm vagina-splaining. About the vagina I have. And the societal oppression I face because of it.
And no, my cunt does not make me less of a man. I know transphobic feminists don't care about that, but I need cis feminists who claim to be allies to listen.
A trans man telling you he needs to be included in feminism is not "men invading women's spaces". A trans man saying "please stop saying abortion is a women's issue" is not stepping out of line or trying to "erase women".
Fix your language. If you say "women's health" that means you're talking about the health of cis AND trans women and the discussion doesn't involve anything a trans man might care about. If you DO mean issues AFAB people care about, then say "gynecological health".
No, we don't want people to say "menstruators" or "vagina-havers" or any of that weird shit transphobic feminists love to scream, that's fucking weird. There's literally already terminology in place. Just use common sense.
We're on a new platform with a totally different audience...we have to prove ourselves all over again...convince a totally new group of people to think we're funny and worth your attention....so allow me to drop some of my "A" material....the funniest thing I got.......here goes....... jeef berky

reblog if you fully and intentionally are referring to aspec people as well when you use the word queer to refer to the community
my partner once said, "if you have to explain your sexuality to straight people, you're probably queer"

4th century CE Roman amber pins, found in 2020 at the feet of an individual who was buried in a large sarcophagus at a necropolis in the French city of Autun.
These are stunning pins, crafted with exquisite attention to detail and symmetry…but what’s even more clever about them is the material they are made out of.
Amber is ever so slightly “sticky” as a surface (which makes sense, since it’s age-hardened sap / resin). It can be polished until it’s virtuall glass-smooth, but when tucked into hair, or into the fibers of a woven garment, it will have just a tiny bit more friction, causing them to have that much more of a chance to remain in place. As a material for securing things, they are slightly better than metal and bone, if not quite as good as wood (which has a great deal of microscopic texture for hair, etc, to catch on and cling to).
Most forms of amber are very clouded from inclusions when it was still sap, and fractal from the pressures it underwent as it hardened over the aeons. To be able to find pieces as large and clear as these are makes them all the more rare. Unlike metal or bone (and somewhat like wood) these pins would feel warmer to the touch, and be more comfortable and comforting for the owner, while being less fragile than wood. And lastly, amber does have a faint scent as it warms up, making them a natural perfume source.
These are not cheap throwaway objects, folks. These are indeed treasured posessions, just as much for their functionality & multi-use offerings as for their rarity and beauty.
Reblogging for all that extra amber trivia because it’s fascinating
