…I want to just draw a fashion zine of just Miss Piggy, oh my god. she is so underrated and underutilized, where is my succession-like muppets satire thing LOL I want it so bad. let me do it disney call me pls

EDIT FOR JAN 2025: I’M MAKING A ZINE OF MISS PIGGY FASHIONS. It is happening, I have heard your comments. Please stay tuned to my instagram for updates!! Here’s a preview:

thank you for like, a bajillion notes!!!

cis women will never be the primary group effected by “women’s spaces” rhetoric but the fact that cis women often get harassed in “women’s spaces” if they are butch / otherwise gender nonconforming or not wearing makeup or fat or Girl With Short Hair or just straight up Black kinda proves “women’s only spaces” straight up do not work as a method of shielding women of patriarchal violence on any level 💀

say what u want about Sabrina she's doubling down on being an ally to the LGBT community and to drag queens and trans women specifically in a time where it's more profitable to abandon your progressive image and cater to right wingers instead and for that she has my respect

Peter, if your spider sense is going off. By definition, there is somebody there! Amazing Spiderman 151

Could be invisible, could be shapeshifted, could be one of the seagulls is intelligent and malevolent.

There's an actual villain in the marvel universe that's just a weird bug that keeps trying to steal Hank Pym's shit

seriously?

How he- Herman! You were spelling your name in blackouts across the Manhattan skyline! Amazing Spiderman 151

Hey, that could be recreational, rather than part of The Plan, whatever it is.

If it's not PART of his plan then its DOUBLE stupid because its him making himself easily catchable for style points!

Obsessed with the fact that this really happened😳

When I was a student at Oxford, both C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien were lecturing there, Lewis magnificently and Tolkien badly and inaudibly, and the climate of opinion was such that people explained Lewis’s children’s books by saying ‘It’s his Christianity, you know,’ as if the books were the symptom of some disease, while of Tolkien they said he was wasting his time on hobbits when he should have been writing learned articles…
I imagine I caused Tolkien much grief by turning up to hear him lecture week after week, while he was trying to wrap his lectures up after a fortnight and get on with The Lord of the Rings (you could do that in those days, if you lacked an audience, and still get paid). I sat there obdurately despite all his mumbling and talking with his face pressed up to the blackboard, forcing him to go on expounding every week how you could start with a simple quest-narrative and, by gradually twitching elements as it went along, arrive at the complex and entirely different story of Chaucer’s Pardoner’s Tale – a story that still contains the excitement of the quest-narrative that seeded it. What little I heard of all this was wholly fascinating.

Mayor Abe Beame everyone, NYC's chief executive from '74 to '77. Mostly remembered as the man who presided over the financial quagmire of New York in the 70s (and, coincidentally related to this storyline, a nearly debilitating black out that hit the city in 1977) he is NOT remembered overly fondly. I guess Wein was a fan.

Amazing Spiderman 152

It'sxweird to think that they used to just...do that

"Topical Reference" is what the wiki calls it, in modern parlance you can just substitute whichever mayor you think fits into the relative time period

Who would have taken sourpuss for a classicalist? Amazing Spiderman 151

Two musiciand, two trips to google, though the first name I already knew

It, in either case, I don't know the associations these would've had in the '70s.

They'd both be "Dad music" fading into "Grandpa music", though Lombardo's stuff was more peppy and danceable while Mantovani was "easy listening." I think it's more about JJJ thinking about how much money he paid for those collectibles.

Flash would likely mostly know Guy Lombardo for the annual New Year's concerts (going for two more years at this point) and doesn't pay attention to movie credits or listen to Lite FM so doesn't immediately clock Mantovani.

It was the 70s, MAN. Music was going through a LOT and Flash would know because the Vietnam war inspired a lot of it

Its so charming to me that we're in an era where Peter can complain of the "old days" when he's only met a guy twice. Trust me Peter, Herman is not going to become LESS obnoxious with time. Amazing Spiderman 151

This might be Herman at his absolute most extra.

Ms Marvel getting the lesson that just because Shocker is goofy doesn't mean he's altogether harmless

I'm starting to go the opposite direction of all the "you're a literal baby infant until 25 bc your bwain is a baby bwain :(" shit

We should be treating teens as more adult than we do. I don't mean some lowering the age of consent creep shit, I mean presuming competence. Get a job, learn life skills, learn to cook, be fully responsible for a pet, walk places alone (in daylight) or with a friend, have intergenerational friendships, teach skills to littler kids, be someone people can trust with more than wiping their own ass. Be someone they themselves can trust to do stuff and go places. We're stealing children's confidence by treating them like they can't do anything. Treat them like they can and should do many adult things and more will find the confidence to practice at them.

Yes, the brain isn't finished growing when you're like 15. No, you shouldn't get treated like a preschooler till it is. The general experience of adulthood is like 90% practice 10% maturity I think. The maturity is needed but it doesn't account for much if you just do nothing.

YES. And with support! Teach your teens to make their own doctors appointments by sitting by them in case something comes up they don't know the answer to. Show your elementary schoolers how to cook a meal. Teach them how to read a map and guide you where they want to go. Kids are capable.

I was already sitting with my dad, chopping tomatoes for his preserves, when I was eight (and wildly proud I was allowed to use the sharp knife!) In our house we could choose our own chores so long as we contributed, so when I was in high school I was already cooking the occasional dinner for my family.

Kids and teenagers are fairly capable, and preventing them from doing anything that requires responsibility isn't exactly the way to make them more responsible or capable.

i think any time a politician so much as suggests creating a national public registry of a minority group they should lose their job immediately, and then be shot

Really crazy how "writing" is not a universal skill and "fiction writing" vs "technical writing" vs "writing peer reviews for work" are somehow all different muscles

Like man I'll write short fiction about a ghost boy getting ripped apart no prahblem but then I go to write a peer review for a coworker I deeply respect and my first draft will be like, "I deeply enjoy working with you. Due to how good and skilled and nice you are. At your job."
