That being said, the episode is a somewhat effective commentary on the state of not only Superman, but super heroes as a whole. The world is such a cynical place that the idea of someone being good and doing good simply because it’s the right thing to do stretches belief, and faith in heroes can be shattered at a moment’s notice.
