last chance to evacuate

as you may know, israel has begun its ground operation in rafah. they dropped leaflets last night ordering people to evacuate, and bombing in east rafah has already begun.

The border is about to become unreachable.

We have literal hours until no-one, all the GoFundMe's you've scrolled past, all the people desperately begging on TikTok, will be able to escape.

Give now. Give whatever you can.

I am fundraising for the Odeh family, which is only 3k away from meeting its goal.

you will not get another chance.

This elderly woman was one of the leaders of demonstrations against the Vietnam War in 1968, when she was a student at Columbia University. Today, 56 years later, she returns to the same place and says, "Palestine must be free."

A brief intro to stamp making!

These are regular pink erasers from the supermarket. I'm going to make a flower. First, I trace the eraser itself to get a feel for the size.

I trace the design for each color of ink on separate pieces of tracing paper, then tape them onto the erasers and rub the graphite side down to transfer the image. Any paper that holds graphite will work for this.

Since I'm using red, blue, and yellow ink, I'm layering the stamps over top of one another to produce secondary colors like green and purple. I use a V-shaped carving tool most of the time, just a cheap one I got in a kit at Michael's. Almost anything sharp will work.

I got these Ranger ink pads also at Michael's, they're working for me so far. Slightly nicer ink pad brands usually also sell bottles of refill ink, so you don't need to buy a whole new pad when one runs dry.

Most of the time involved is spent carving the rubber and testing the print as you go. Be careful to carve in the direction away from your hands.

I think these worked out pretty well! Thanks for reading, and have fun!

People who hate the south because they think that it's just full of racist white hicks are literally like my least favorite people on the planet. Wdym you think the part of the USA most directly influenced and shaped by black culture and experiences is just only super racist and white. Have you ever been to SEATTLE

1- that's NOT what's taught in US schools. i know schools in the US have a strong racist bias and are lacking but you can't convince me it teaches you *nothing* at all about the region other than it being barren desert, because our region has very deep historic ties with events that you surely have learned about in the west (think of the crusades for example) or at least have learned about it for their religious significance.

2- that excuse only works until you're... what? 12? and then i'm so sorry to tell you i'm going to hold you to a higher standard than your school does!

Now I could believe that they could have had a racist teacher that spouted nonsense but the American schoolchild experience is to learn to feel out when your teacher is teaching and when they’re going on a rant. And with the internet you can say to yourself, “my teacher said something weird let me look that up”. My high school bio teacher said that everyone is born with blue eyes so I brought my baby picture in the next day as counter evidence, but I digress.

Yeah your teacher could be a weirdo, and I know the history courses are timed so badly you never get to the last ‘current events’ chapter, and Transfomers 5 or whatever shows Egyptian pyramids by themselves except for a solitary man with a camel, and charity commercials show Africans with only the most sedate earthen homes or in a landfill, but you know - deep in your gut- that there must be more to this world. Follow that and start looking
