some of your favorite slugs (sea or land, up to you)?
tough one but heres some personal favorites that are both terrestrial and aquatic because the best thing about slugs is that they are everywhere
- so first up is the puerto rican semi slug. its translucent and green body reminds me of glow in the dark toys and its just a lovely little guy
- this is nembrotha cristata a sea slug. looks like monster energy. really striking colours
- the pancake slug is just a cute little thing. they look so shy to me and its very endearing
- clione are a type of sea slug that swims through the water on its angel wings. theyre just such a wonderful animal. they produce a kind of chemical deterrent to predators and apparently antarctic amphipods carry them around for protection because of this. i have a keychain of a toy one so i guess i carry one around like an amphipod too
- the kaputar slug just has a wonderful vibrant colour. they only live on top of mount kaputar in australia
- and finally we have costasiella kuroshimae or the leaf sheep. honestly i still cant believe theyre real animals. they look like living cartoons. they can also basically photosynthesise since they keep the chloroplasts from the algae they eat.
those are some favorite slugs of mine, but i definitely do enjoy just hanging out with the ones in my garden too ! they may not be as fancy as these guys but theyre just nice to be in the company of, theyre such sweet little creatures with a lot of personality
