A werewolf for Moonshift Monster :)

I'm quite happy with how she turned out. I'm not used to painting with such saturated colors so I kept having to check it in b&w.

Faux Fur Sources

I sometimes get asked where I get my faux fur fabrics, so here's a list of sources, and a little about each. They are US based unless otherwise stated, and I have purchased from all of them.

A great affordable place to get both realistic and solid faux fur. I use a lot of their animal and wolf furs, as well as their half-shag/beaver (1/2") and short shag (1"), but they have lots of cool things. As a company they're great about listening to the needs of their customers and several fur and minky lines are a direct result of community requests.

Full Moon Features: Viking Wolf (2022)

Full Moon Features: With Netflix's VIKING WOLF premiering just in time for the full moon, @Hooded_Werewolf investigates this Norwegian take on werewolf lore.

After taking last month off, we are back with a werewolf film as hot off the presses as you can get. Norway’s Vikingulven, which has been Anglicized to Viking Wolf by Netflix, has the air of novelty about it thanks to its Nordic setting, but looking past the surface, co-writer/director Stig Svendsen follows the genre’s trappings without too many deviations. The film starts off promisingly with a…

Architect Luther Lashmit/ The Persian Card Room at Graylyn- North Carolina

Luther Lashmit’s touch can be seen in the buildings he designed throughout Winston-Salem.

In 1927, Lashmit joined Winston-Salem architectural firm Northup & O’Brien (now CJMW Architecture) and became the lead designer for Graylyn at age 29. The sprawling mansion is reminiscent of something seen in the French countryside, featuring 60 rooms spread across 46,000 square feet. It stands today as the second-largest private residence ever built in N.C. (behind only Biltmore).

The Gray family traveled in Europe and sent telegrams to Lashmit while he was designing Graylyn. “Had dinner in a Scottish Castle,” they wrote. “Bought the dining room. Please incorporate in your work.” A few weeks later, crates would arrive with paneling and chandeliers.

The Persian Card Room at Graylyn is an example of this incorporation.  The walls were imported from a small mosque in Constantinople dating back to the Byzantine age.  It was where the Gray family played bridge and smoked ciagrs.  The panels incorporate passages from the Koran, Ottoman landscapes, flowers and bowls of fruit.

As a little kid, you liked to pull harmless pranks on the local cryptids. As you grew older you realized the danger of going out into the woods and stopped visiting them. Turns out, the cryptids had fond memories of your antics and want to come and see you again.

in almost every other children's book where the main heroine is swept away to a land of whimsy she's shown having a lovely time; braving dangers occasionally, trying to find her way home, sure, but ultimately delighting in the magic around her. meanwhile alice spends her entire time in wonderland like

look, here’s the thing: alice in wonderland’s enduring fucking charm is that it perfectly captures the vibe of being a very tired and annoyed child who is nonetheless required to play along with adult nonsense.

alice is dragged from place to place without warning, forced to play stupid games with no good prizes, grilled over her schooling and manners and recitation and dress, scolded, judged, insulted to her face, sent away, given gifts she didn’t ask for and doesn’t like, corrected incorrectly, been subject to shifting and arbitrary rules, and then when she gets snappish with all this bullshit everyone acts like a little girl’s temper is the end of the fucking world.

alice in wonderland isn’t a drug trip or a nightmare or a metaphor, that’s just what being ten years old is LIKE. that’s why kids love it so much. even if they can’t quite articulate how, they recognize themselves in it.

A newly finished commission, for my buddy Lukan over on twitter. I’ve done his characters two other times now, just fun sketches, but this was a full painting!! and I just now was able to finish it up. I love how it turned out: Awoos are in order~.
