Ok we all know that I love Kimetsu Academy by now but one of my very favorite parts is that they gave Kagaya a peacetime personality without the stress of the war against demons and 100% OF IT IS JUST HIM BEING A SILLY LITTLE GUY😤 The entire time all he does is finesse free food from Kaigaku, love his wife, go down rabbit holes organizing his massive antiques collection, help Yushiro and the Tokitos fix Tamayo’s favorite vase, host parties for the kids, and shit talk Muzan over the phone and it is so fucking valid lmao

LET HIM BE A HAPPY LITTLE MAN WITH HIS GIRLBOSS WIFE AND UNUSUALLY INTELLIGENT CHILDREN GOTOGUE PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU

Anime only watchers and people who aren't caught up with the Manga, BEWARE... Cuz I'm about to discuss Spy X Family Mission 80... You have been warned...! 👌

[SPOILERS AHEAD FROM THIS POINT ON]

THAT ENDING...!!! 😱 OH MY-- WAIT...! I'm getting ahead of myself...

First of all, Happy Mother's day everyone...!! 💗 I hope y'all are having a wonderful day today because another amazing chapter of Spy X Family just dropped and we're gonna talk about it...!! 😆

Let's start by acknowledging the fact that this chapter is a direct continuation of Mission 79, which is something I did not expect AT ALL...! 😆

Yor is so worried about what happened last night with Loid that she's afraid to cross paths with him...! Meanwhile in the living room, Loid is giving Anya some breakfast before she and Becky go to the zoo together (I wonder if we'll get to see any of that trip in the future...? 🤔) [proceeds to hear "We're Going To The Zoo" from Milo Murphy's Law in my head 🐵]

And as Yor comes out of her room, Loid spots her and well...

THESE TWO IDIOTS I SWEAR!! 🤣 I JUST LOVE THEM SO MUCH...!! 😂

After trying to come up with some gripes and causing some confusion to Westalis' Greatest Spy™, Yor says THIS in front of...:

THAT'S RIGHT!! 😆 MY BOY YURI IS BACK TO CAUSE SOME HAVOC!!

And since Yuri came in the at the wrong right time, so of course he would start harassing Loid for making his sister very "unhappy"... 😌

I just love how DONE Twilight is with Yuri's shit now...!! 🤣 (He even told him to shut up later in the chapter...!! 😂)

After some more shenanigans between the three, the phone rings and it turned out to be an urgent message from WISE...! So when Loid left in a rush, it led Yuri to think THIS:

And so, Yuri and Yor started following Loid...!

But before Yuri could find whether or not Loid is a cheater, he gets summoned by his job and leaves Yor to follow Loid...! 👀 And honestly, I started to think that this might lead to Yor learning Loid's secret, but then she got fully sober and went home...! 😌

So when Loid arrived at the hospital, Fiona debriefed him on the situation at hand...

THERE'S A MOLE!!? 😱

Not only is there a mole, but they also stole some important information, including...:

And this stolen information is headed to...:

WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED Y'ALL!!? 😵

And that was Mission 80, and it was a doozy of a chapter...!! 😄 Mission 80 had me thinking that it was gonna be just another fun little chapter, and then that ending HIT ME LIKE A TRUCK!! 😆 I cannot wait to see what happens next!! 😁

I did have one major question lingering in mind after reading this chapter: Who is the Mole...? 🤔

I personally believe that it's gotta be someone we already know from WISE, like agent mustache and agent bowl-cut... Then, my mind started to think that it could be Franky... BUT I DON'T WANT IT TO BE FRANKY!! 😭 I guess we'll just have to wait and find out...!! 🤷

Anyway, that's all I gotta say... So until the next Mission; take care, be safe out there and Happy Mother's again!! BUH-BYE!! 👋😁

(Sidenote: I had my review done WAY early today, but for some reason, it wouldn't save at all and I had to rewrite the whole thing THREE TIMES before it finally worked... 🥲)

Yor starting a fight with her perfect husband for NOTHING is the most realistic thing in their fake marriage 😭 Loid is going to tell his male colleagues and they’re going to be like “You know how women are…just take her on a date” then Operation Strix will be a success because everyone will know that even Dr Forger and his perfect wife fight.

this guy is so back and forth i swear

EVERYTHING THIS GUY SAYS IS JUST ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO CRUSH YONAS SOUL

I KNOW RIGHT HE'S SUCH AN ASSHOLE I HATE THIS SO MUCH

A COUPLE CHAPTERS HE WAS LIKE “I CAN’T THROW THEM AWAY”

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING BESIDES THAT YOU DUMBASS?

"oh the 4 dragons can't be sensed? oh no anyways, FOR KOUKA even though Geun-tae, Judo and Kye-Sook are all thinking you should go after the dragons and look at the other tribes i don't care i HaVe ChOsEn"

WHAT HAS CHANGED? HE'S MAKING THE SAME DUMB MISTAKE AS BEFORE, PUTTING THE DRAGON'S LIVES ON THE LINE AND NOT THINKING THEY'RE NEEDED

HE CAN’T MAKE A FUCKING DECISION, I JUST FEEL SO BAD FOR YONA WHO’S JUST LOSING HER FAMILY CAUSE OF THIS IDIOT OVER AND OVER AGAIN, JUST PUTTING HER THROUGH THE SAME FUCKING TRAUMA

THE DRAGONS LITERALLY SAVED THE COUNTRY TOO, LIKE IT SEEMS LIKE HIS HATRED FOR HIRYUU HASN'T DIED OUT AT ALL

Avatar

LITERALLY LIKE WHY 😭😭 HE HAS THE BRAINS TO DO BETTER THINGS BUT YET HES SO RUSHED TO GET THINGS DONE BEFORE HE DIES BUT DOESNT STOP TO THINK “hey, maybe this isn’t the right way. I should strategize something else to get the dragons back (while still accomplishing his main goal) and quit straining myself faster” which would benefit Yona so that she can get some freaking rest, AND the country because they’re LITERALLY GODS- so SET in his ways

his stupidest trait is being smart yet dense and unreasonable, he needs to realize that doing good for the people INCLUDING his not-so-friends around him will always bounce back to help him aswell on matters instead of trying to fix it all himself

I don’t think he’s being smart whatsoever when 3 of his advisors are telling him to do something and he’s just ignoring it

Them: Uhm, Your Majesty, the strategic choice would be to send out even one search party after the dragons—

Su-Won: go nap :)

IS SMILING YOUR COPING MECHANISM BOI? TELL ME

I am pissed at Su-Won this chapter (RANT)

See stuff like him disregarding the state of Kuuto, the Earth Tribe, and the dragons really makes me think ONCE again that his ambitions are about doing what his father wants rather than for the “country” which is actually giving him such an awful look this chapter dude…

Like I get he's ill, and that's likely making him in such a rush to get to the South Kai capital and make Kouka the glorious empire that his father wished it to be....

But he’s not thinking about the casualties on Kouka’s side at all. What happened to

Huh????

Like I cannot tell if this is a writing problem or a Su-Won problem. Either way I am PISSED off at this character. It's off when not only Kija, but even Su-Won supporters like Judo, Kye-Sook and Geun-tae are going "Uh, Heika? Wtf are you doing :I"

And it's like "Su-Won are you REALLY doing this for the country boy???? OKAY, then why is Kouka in such a bad shape right now????”

Yeah I’m not too happy with Soowon here. I’ve always been up and down in opinion of him. Sometimes he’s fine and sometimes…just ugh. I understand the need to pursue the advantage to take down South Kai while he can. He probably is urged to get it done before he dies of his illness…and this feels ‘forced’ to forgo his heart and personal feelings. But I’m not liking this. Besides I have this foreboding feeling that this craziness with the dragons is actually a much pressing matter to address than he may realize.

Soowon’s visit to Hak at the end does make me curious though. Do you think he might have something to say that’ll improve the situation?

Yeah again I can’t even tell if this is a writing or Su-Won problem. It feels so unreasonable and forced - like the author just wants him to be as uncooperative and stubborn as possible, and once again it puts Yona in this morally high and smart light (which earlier I criticized because it felt so unbalanced but lately I’ve just been feeling sorry for her and hating Su-Won because his recent decisions have been so idiotic) -

It doesn’t feel like he’s doing it for the country at all - WHY ARE YOUR PERSONAL FEELINGS AND BIASES GETTING IN THE WAY SOO-WON DON’T PREACH ABOUT “DOING THIS FOR THE COUNTRY”

He’s losing ALL his allies - Judo believed in him? No, he feels sorry for Geun-tae. Kye-Sook believing in his potential? Kye-Sook is wanting to look for the dragons. Geun-tae, who was impressed by Su-Won helping him as a king? No, now he's mad at him for not giving a crap about the Earth Tribe.

And I'm like.... wtf? Su-Won, why are you just dropping the ball again and again?

He’s USING Yona for his own ends and Hak literally needs to punch him I am so pissed.

You know Su-Won never struck me as the type who forgot what he learned or someone who needed to be taught things over and over again.

I thought he'd gone through this arc of realizing he couldn't "throw them away" once - and even that arc was tiring to watch.

So why are we repeating this shit again??????????

Well put! It’s a common complaint that Yona is always put in the biggest light and anyone going against her is inherently wrong. While I understand those criticisms and sometimes even agree with them sometimes, this time I do not. I think Soowon is in the wrong. As you said even the tribe leaders like Geuntae (who had a whole arc in gaining his loyalty) is hesitant on Soowon’s recent behavior. Even Kyesook of all people admitted Soowon actually made a mistake concerning the dragons.

I think this current situation is Soowon thinking everyone is acting on emotions which will sabotage the goal of eliminating the threat of South Kai. But in this case I do not think concern over the dragons and taking action to help them is just a purely emotional act that will have no bearing on any future consequences. Something is obviously going very wrong spiritually with the fire of Hiryuu castle and the Chalice. I don’t know exactly what though. And Soowon is being too narrow minded in his goals to see this. Like you said it’s probably based on his short timeframe and upbringing biasing him against anything related to Hiryuu and the dragons.

YES! Previous complaints that Yona was unreasonably put in a morally upper ground DID have legitimacy.

Not this time. Su-Won is absolutely reckless for not realizing that divine forces are at play regarding the war and refusing to adapt to the gameboard like everyone else is.

This is not how a king would act. This is how an imbecile who is ruled by his emotions and biases would. An objective ruler would have worked with the present environment to win, even if he hated it.

But Su-Won is being a hypocrite who only acts like a king when it suits him and never stops to think logically. Anytime it comes to the dragons or Hiryuu, he's always making these hasty, reckless decisions that benefit zero people due to his spite being more important to him.

I cannot respect it.

Yeah it’s funny. He’s supposed to the most logical and cold calculating character here, and yet he is being affected by his resentment of Hiryuu or anything divine. It’s weird because I thought he was going through some kind of epiphany in recent chapters when he was torn between his emotions and what he thought was tactically sound.

But maybe him meeting Hak at the end of the chapter indicates a change or something

I think that Hak could probably invoke change in him or persuade him angrily to take a more decisive stance on his goals regardless of his resentment towards the gods.

I was also thinking how interesting it would be if Hak saw this unreasonable side to Su-Won that despises Hiryuu/the divine firsthand next chapter. Hak had always thought Su-Won as a perfect candidate as a king, someone impartial and fair, who loves everyone equally, someone who can easily adapt to bad situations. Seeing that same person express hatred towards Hiryuu and anything divine would be a rude but chilling awakening for Hak that the Su-Won he’s known is someone different from the man currently in front of him: a weak, angry, illogical, and stubborn man unsuitable to rule.

I’m excited to see Hak and Su-Won interact; however, I feel like their conversation will not be very friendly or anything like their previous dynamic. They cannot go back to that time.

It will be different. There will be the nostalgia and sadness, but they will probably both be expressing coldness towards one another and resentment about various things.

OK, finally read the translated chapter ch 242 (review)

Su-Won seems more level-headed when I read the English translations and less dismissive and irrational. It’s kind of like he’s too sick and barely functioning at the end and that’s kind of why he’s in a rush to get his army to the South Kai capital. (I’m sure this little shit is still slightly dismissive because of his hatred for the gods though, he’s not fooling me!)

I think Su-Won going “no way to look for them” was harsh in the Japanese raws, because Kija was like “wtf bro chill” but Kye-Sook at least looked like he was successfully sending out another search party. Can’t believe I’m saying this but thank you, Kye-Sook, you are the rational one!

Still, while Su-Won wanting to finish things quickly, it’s not wise to leave Kouka in the current state that it is. There’s going to be consequences with low morale. I am kind of afraid for Geun-tae’s life… if he dies because of Su-Won, Su-Won will really need a reality check. What if he gets sick and dies halfway through the travelling? How long is the Senjuso going to extend his life?

The biggest question too is what Su-Won is doing on the ground alone cloaked.

There’s also the fact that Zeno wants to accomplish Su-Won’s goal even if he “turns his back on the gods”, and I wonder how that and Yona’s prophetic dream will play out. Why were the dragons screaming? I want to know.

Chagol is dead apparently (even though he has a Phoenix on his head? sus…), and he’s not the main villain, it looks like. He wasn’t even called “emperor”, so I’m guessing the real main villain of this show is the North Kai Emperor. Isn’t that the dude who married Titia (Goddess of War? sister of Kuelbo?) and was suspected of killing her?

Did the North Kai Emperor or an ally of his take the chalice?

There was also Ran-Tan who mentioned to Yona about South Kai having many horrible Princesses there… which we never saw, but will we see such people in Yuu-Kyou? I want to see some woman villains for once.

Of course, I sympathize with Yona still as she struggles between her duties and her wish to find her friends, and it’s a good thing that Hak is still going to search for clues. She looks very sad and I want her to feel better! Not to mention those Sky Tribe soldiers are really annoying…

Akatsuki no Yona Chapter 242 thoughts part 1: Is Soowon making the right choice or not?

First off I want to say how well-written this chapter is in making the heavy feelings bleed through the pages. Chagol is dead supposedly. A victory right? But morale is down. Something disturbing is going on with the dragons, and now 3 of them mysteriously disappeared. Yona and Kija are distressed and anxious. They alone felt the psychic cry/presence of them and it was not a good feeling. Geuntae and his troops are worn out, tired, and dejected. They’ve been fighting the war the longest and want a rest. Hiryuu castle is burned and the citizens are probably freaking out. Where is their king to address this? But Soowon wants to push on.

If you think about it, this is the perfect opportunity to take the initiative and strike at South Kai’s heart and make a decisive victory. Chagol, their leader is dead. The Kai Generals are in in a scramble. 2 dead, 2 injured and with the Kouka troops, the rest are probably confused and in huge disarray. The reinforcements retreated after being attacked by literal dragons. If there was ever an opportunity to strike now, it’s now. Would it be wise to rest, and allow South Kai the opportunity to regroup?

I definitely see Soowon’s reasoning. But on the flip side, there is the morale of the Kouka army to consider. They are also tired, and making hasty decisions could stretch themselves too thin and leave them open for something bad to happen if they rush into it. What if South Kai still has something up their sleeve? What about the North Kai’s emperor? On top of that, something is seriously going wrong with the dragons and the Chalice is missing. This could end up leading to something dire if not addressed. (I’ll probably talk more about this in another post too)

Soowon’s illness and biases I agree might be blindsiding him. It’s hard to think straight when you are seriously ill, and I can definitely see how hard he is trying.

Personally I feel like so far it’s partially the right decision. But Kouka is in for some unexpected trouble. Soowon needs to listen to others to adjust some things in his plans.

Right - it could be their only time to strike, at the same time everyone is tired out. And Su-won’s illness and biases is getting in the way (lesser than what I expected but nonetheless it's there) I too think proceeding isn’t the worst idea, but they should make sure that morale isn’t lost and address the Chalice/dragon problem.

You know, one day, when Yona and Hak start properly communicating as a couple and are at ease with one another completely, I’d like Yona to speak with Hak about her past feelings for Su-Won. How she fell for him, how she was affected by him, how her feelings for him changed and how she fell for Hak.

Because Yona and Hak are close as hell, but at the same time, there is a huge distance between them regarding their feelings, just as Jae-ha has said.

As Hak deep down considered Su-Won the stealer of Yona’s affections, his feelings created a love triangle and so not only was his selflessness and inferiority complex distancing himself from Yona, but his selfish desire for her distanced him from understanding Yona’s love for another man.

Yes, Hak didn’t really understand Yona’s feelings for Su-Won regarding love, I think. For Hak, it was about Yona’s happiness and making sure Su-Won was the king. When it came to Yona’s love, he was probably like, “he’s a royal, she thinks he’s cute, they’re friends, it makes sense she’d like a guy like him. They’ll be King and Queen one day.”

But it’s not that simple whatsoever. He was selfless but never really questioned Yona’s love for Su-Won at all. As a friend, Su-Won was very dear to them both, and I believe Hak relied on purely that to understand Yona’s sadness. He knew she had feelings for him, but I don’t get the impression that he fully understood why she loved him. He stayed out of her mind and uninvolved.

Whenever it came to Yona’s feelings for Su-Won, Hak understands that she loved him and it is hard to let go. But he has never spoken directly to her about the love she had for him.

Actually, the only person Yona has spoken about her love for Su-Won openly to (without Ik-su prophet visions!) is Lili!

When Hak asks Yona, “can you trust him?!” Yona is speechless.

She cannot tell Hak the same thing, “I cannot believe that Su-Won’s kindness towards us was a lie.”

So when Yona and Hak are finally over this entire mess between them and their past friend, I want them to openly talk about Su-Won and the role he had in their lives. For Hak, I want him to admit to Yona that he was jealous of her affections for Su-Won but no longer is. And I want Yona to be honest about her past feelings for Su-Won to him and how they have changed. They should be comfortable talking about it, otherwise I cannot say they are comfortable as a couple.

I think something like this is necessary for Hak to truly understand Yona’s love for any man, and in respect, her love for Hak now. He does not understand the extent of her love, and one day he will have to.
