Hi, I’m a new fan and only read the book until TVL, but why do I feel like the fandom doesn’t really like to talk about David or even David & Lestat relationship? I think Lestat supposed to fall in love with him right? But why do people seem like they don’t want David & Lestat together? I know many people ship Nickistat and Armandstat beside the canon Loustat but why I rarely find people who ship David & Lestat, what happened to them? I heard Anne Rice at some point want David to be Lestat’s endgame? Could you please give brief explanation about their story & relationship?

Hey dear!

Welcome to the madness!! 😈

Anne had to leave Louis behind at some point bc. of her personal history with him and IWTV, at least that is my take.

But when she also wanted to replace Louis with David the Facebook fans rallied, and they are to thank that she abandoned that plan in the end (though I also think that you cannot simply exchange the heart, the foundation of the chronicles…).

David Talbot comes with this baggage… and some other baggage, mostly from the Merrick book. I have said it before, I do find his and Lestat’s later relationship fascinating, because its origin is in a rather difficult time for Lestat. And the subsequent turning was done in a desperate attempt to prove that Lestat is evil… which he is not, not in the sense of the word, and that colors their relationship.

Within the books David fills the void when Louis was not ready… and Lestat wasn’t either.

I think it might be difficult to transport that into a series though, which is why most I‘ve seen would prefer David to be skipped for the show. Personally I think there’s a lot of potential, especially with the Talamasca and Mayfair Witches crossover, but love-wise it might be better to concentrate on Louis-Armand-Lestat-Daniel… I mean, that’s already difficult enough, right?! 😅

(Hope that makes sense😅)

July 10, 2023 - AO3 is down. Supernatural trends.

Earlier today AO3 started experiencing issues which are said to be a result of a DDOS attack (essentially meaning that the sever is being flooded with traffic to disrupt it) [x]. The site has been down for a few hours so far which is causing panic, understandably so.

Good news is that data has not been compromised, bad news is that hurt/comfort readers will have to wait longer for the comfort part. Apart from the standard panic and distress which happens anytime AO3 is down, the side-effects now apparently include Supernatural trending.

This is most likely due to several Destiel News™ memes being shared along with the trending AO3 tag (currently trending at 1), but I'd like to think that posting about Supernatural is just another symptom of the collective temporary insanity caused by AO3 withdrawal.

I simply do not understand why my dear Hozier doesn't release a studio version of Blood.... come on king.... give the people what they waaaaaant!

Look, they still have until July 12th to come to a deal with the AMPTP, but . . . SAG has already begun strike preparations. For real.

Again, the deadline is midnight on July 12th. But I feel SAG knows they can get everything they ask for if the AMPTP won't play ball and SAG strikes. Because if SAG strikes, the whole industry shuts down, period. Everything that is filming completely stops. Anything that might be in pre-production, stops. Studios will start losing a lot of money every day a SAG strike goes on.

So, yeah. Particularly when it comes to streaming, I don't think SAG will give in to any lesser deal. IMO, it will have to be very, very close to what SAG is asking for for a strike to be avoided.

For my IWTV followers and fandom, the show just announced they will be at Comic-Con, but if a strike hits, yeah. They're not going to be there. A strike means none of the actors will be doing any promotions or events, along with stopping filming.

Though I kinda wonder if they are close to done filming Season 2 already anyway, given they seemed to have time to break and come to Comic-Con. So even if a strike happens, they might not actually have much left to film before it hits. We'll see.

THIS IS BIG BIG BIG!  YES!

NO MORE FED USE OF PRIVATE PRISONS!

President Biden signed the executive order January 27, 2021.  This is the first time I’ve even heard of this.  Here are a couple of links with more info:

Biden gets a lot of flack for being a generic neo liberal rather than a cool leftist, and trust me I’m 100% on board with criticizing Biden, but it occurred to me that, at least by my standards, he’s the best president I’ve lived under. Clinton was just “What if Reaganomics but with a saxophone”, Obama did pass the ACA, but he also cut it to bits to appease the republicans who didn’t vote for it anyway, and he constantly bombed middle-eastern civilians. I’m not even gonna bother mentioning any of the republicans since I don’t need to convince my intended audience that they’re bad.

Biden, while he’s obviously had some major bad decisions (breaking the rail strike, failing to defend trans rights), has done more actual good than I think anyone else I’ve lived under. He’s nearly completely ended drone strikes, he’s addressing the debt crisis (everyone knows about the $10k, but very few I’ve seen know about the changes he’s made to how federal student loans work that make them far less of a burden/deathtrap), and now there’s the above, which I’m just learning about.

Never let perfect be the enemy of good, and while Biden is very far from being a perfect president, I’m pretty comfortable calling him a good one.

For all the people who insist they never trust politicians, they are sure adamant about waiting until the stars align and political Jesus comes down from the clouds to save us. If you actually didn’t like or trust politicians you would accept that the great majority of the time we are going to have to work with mediocrity.

Biden is boring and uninspiring for sure, but he is significantly less offensive than the vast majority of other options and he is someone we can influence. We want someone we can influence and push towards our positions. Biden has shown that if he isn’t an ally, he at least can be persuaded or pushed into doing what we, the left, want. There are few candidates we can actually say that about.

The point is not that he’s perfect. The point is that he’s very clearly shown that he cares about using his political mandate to make things better. The point is that he cares about accountability. The point is that he cares about what historians will say about him in the future. The point is, these are good qualities in a leader. The kind of qualities that we can work with.

With regards to the rail strike, he continued working with the railways after the strike and just recently got them to give the workers their sick leave. https://www.ibew.org/media-center/Articles/23Daily/2306/230620_IBEWandPaid

“We’re thankful that the Biden administration played the long game on sick days and stuck with us for months after Congress imposed our updated national agreement,” Russo said. “Without making a big show of it, Joe Biden and members of his administration in the Transportation and Labor departments have been working continuously to get guaranteed paid sick days for all railroad workers.”

Biden’s biggest problem is the same one Jimmy Carter had: He’s too busy being President to talk about being President. Nobody knows what he’s doing because he’s busy doing it, and the shock-value media doesn’t see a reason to report on really important shit because it’s not sexy enough. Like, rejoining the Paris Accords was fucking vital for our future because of the aggressive stance it takes toward climate change, but it was barely a blip in the media.

Colorized photo of Vincent van Gogh at his home in Arles in 1869.

No it isn’t you lying ass

Other ai giveaways other than the fucked up hands-

Leaves have no form or order- they’re a green mass without reasonable veins or connection points to stems. See the weird bit that crosses Vince’s arm

Same with the yellow flowers tbh they look pasted on and are all the same level of blur despite the leaves being crisply in focus, and several seem to not have stems

The metal in the window has no actual pattern and isn’t continued into the second window

The chunk of rock texture in the middle of the wood next to the window

The folds on Vince’s clothes don’t seem to fall in a natural way and seem excessive, especially on his pants.

Overall the space is… Odd. Where is he? A random corner against a plain blue wall? Why is one wall made of wood and the other has no discernible texture? Why does the stone part have that weird corner and have the foundation so high up in comparison to where Vince’s feet should be? Why doesn’t the stone wall match the geography of its base? What is the fabric thing on the lefthand side that’s conveniently the same blue as the house and jacket?

Anyway, good practice to train your eye for ai generated images

also he was 16 in 1869. didn’t have a house of his own; wasn’t living in Arles yet. he was training to work for art dealers, in The Hague

this is the only known photographic portrait of Van Gogh, age 19 (c. 1872)
