Hi. Just wanted to say your paintings are phenomenal and you're a huge inspiration to me :) I always enjoy seeing what you post.
Thank you!
Blunt Cat. 6 x 8 inches, oil on hardboard.
You cannot tell a feline “Sit Still- just like that- don’t move!” so the memory of the artist is well worth admiring, I say.
I wouldn’t dream of painting a cat from life. Photography is your friend.
Hi, I really like your art, in fact I love the seamless oil portraits, as a fellow aspiring oil painter, what masters were you inspired by and HOW do you achieve such high quality clear and uncluttered scans of your canvases? Thank you
Hi. Thanks. Oh, I have so many inspirations! Rembrandt, Frank Duveneck, Tamara De Lempicka, Sorolla, and Lucian Freud, to name a few. I usually paint on hardboard or something without a lot of texture. It makes photographing or scanning that much easier. For canvas, I saw a tip a while back about scanning your canvas twice in opposite directions, this way the texture is illuminated in opposite directions. In a photo editor, you lay one scan over the other(rotated to match) and reduce the top layer to 50% opacity. This cancels out the texture if it's lined up well enough.
Have you wanted a portrait commission? I’m taking orders on a few now. Details here: https://ko-fi.com/larrivaart/commissions
