Part of my roadtrip tool me to Atlanta. And, the Civil Rights Center was amazing. Very powerful. They have this one exhibit where you sit at a lunch counter and close your eyes and put on headphones. And It plays sounds like you are at a sit in and people are yelling. And it times how long you can sit there for. I think i lasted almost a minute before i was almost crying.

The entire planet hates America's Republican Party.

(****I’ve been drinking since noon.  I did kind of proofread this and spellcheck but I can’t be 100% sure of its coherence.  I’m basically rambling.)

Looking at all the footage and coverage of the Women’s March from various cities, not just in America but around the world, reminds me a random tidbit of information I picked up at some point last year reading about climate change.

Of all the conservative parties on the planet, the United States’ Republican Party is the only one that doesn’t believe in climate change.  Obviously the liberal wings of international government are all for saving the planet because we’re tree-huggers who don’t have jobs and spend all our time holding hands in fields, singing kumbayah and praising Mother Earth.  On the other side of that coin, you’d expect some opposition to climate change from the conservative wings considering how the GOP here has rejected the opinion of 99% of scientists.  Nope.  Every conservative party platform across the globe includes language to limit the effects of human activity on global warming except our Republican Party.

The United States is uniquely situated to harbor such ignorance.  One, we came out of the last century as the only remaining superpower.  If you’re the biggest and the baddest, then no one else can tell you what to do. You basically “won” the game of Earth.  You finished the race first.  Anything you believe must be true.  

Two, we’re a country that was quickly developed along divisions of white supremacy.  

We were set up as an Us versus Them society from the jump.  The other superpowers from Russia to China to Japan to the United Kingdom have long histories of largely hegemonic societies where everyone comes from the same background.  There were always divisions of class and nobility, but there was less of an instant indication of “I’m better than you” just from walking down the street other than wealth.  

The United States was built on slave labor and the lines between Us vs. Them have continued to shift as whites in power have needed to redraw those lines to maintain their supremacy.  Early in our history, we had landowning whites against non-white slaves and indentured servants.  When they needed more in the Us pile, they included whites, even if they had no land.  When they needed even more in the Us pile, they included European immigrants like the Irish and the Italians and the Greeks.  In the 60s when they needed even more in the Us pile, they included poor whites.  

Once the poor whites with an education started to realize how the chessboard was set up, the Us vs Them started to shift focus once again.  Now you have whites who know better, whites who are educated, whites who pay attention to the world against the ignorant whites who believe whatever is said to them and have never left their hometowns.  The whites in power want to maintain their power by telling the rest of the Us pile that educated whites (Them) are the devil.  The smart liberals from their Eastern universities sitting at desks in crowded cities don’t know how the world works.  They don’t get dirty, they don’t go to church, they live next to messikins and ayerabs, they voted for a nigger to run the country – they’re not real Americans.  

And because those ignorant whites are so blinded by their own stupidity, they still buy into the myth of American exceptionalism.  They still think we’re the biggest, the best, and the smartest.  We haven’t been number one in anything other than prison population in years.  We’re no longer at the forefront of scientific discoveries because we don’t invest in our education system.  Nobody is looking at us as the land of the free where anyone of any background can succeed on their own merits because of how our politicians speak about Muslims and how our law enforcement officials treat Blacks.  There is nothing special about America other than the fact that we were SO good and SO powerful and SO exceptional during a period of human history where the world was changing from a planet of individual societies to a global community of interconnected trade and economic dependence.  

You can’t explain that to a Republican voter.  They’re high on the false idea of their own greatness.  What they BELIEVE is fact because they’re white Americans.  They’re the smartest, bestest, part of an America that is the smartest, bestest country on the planet.  Susan and Billy Bob from North Platte, Nebraska have been fed a steady diet of America Is Number One from both their country as a whole (because Democrats are not immune) and their Republican politicians, and now they’re truly blind to their own shortcomings.  They don’t realize that insulating yourself in a dome of sameness year after year isn’t a virtue, that it takes exposure to a wide range of people to make you a well-rounded human being.  

I got a little off track but y'all see where I’m going.  We’re experiencing this moment in global history because the United States has a very stupid segment of the population that doesn’t even realize the magnitude of their stupidity because they live in a country that keeps telling them We’re The Best.  We’re not the best, the smartest, or the brightest, and the most ignorant of us truly are among the most ignorant people on the planet.  

They’re poor people who elected a rich businessman to lead the country into prosperity even though that businessman has a history of cheating and stepping on poor people to increase his profits.  They’re xenophobes and racists afraid of losing their jobs to immigrants who elected a guy who outsources his construction to undocumented immigrants and has his products manufactured in foreign countries.  They’re brainwashed Christians supposedly voting for family values while electing a man with three baby mamas who sexually assaults women and says his daughter is a hot piece of ass!  The whole world is both highly amused, highly terrified, and highly upset with us and we deserve it!

And what’s the response from our fearless leader?  Lie.  Bluster your way through it, feed the stupid people more untruths.

We can see.  The fucking.  Pictures.  We have the DC metro transit authority’s numbers on how many people were travelling.  There were more people at the protest AGAINST Trump than at his actual Inauguration.  Not only that, people were protesting all over the planet.  Even if Sean Spicer was remotely truthful in his assessment of the crowds, there are still millions of people from Atlanta to Chicago to Rome to London to New York to Los Angeles to WASHINGTON DC ITSELF who took to the streets today in protest of this monster and his idiotic supporters.

And in the end, none of that matters to the Republican Party or its voters.  They still think they’re the smartest and the bestest and that they know better.  They still think they made a great decision.  They still don’t realize who they really elected.  They’re still operating on lies fed to them by whites in power who’ve continued America’s legacy of Us versus Them, and right now, to those stupid idiots with their guns and Bibles, it’s Us versus The Entire Globe.  

Far from being shamed, they’re even more energized that they’re carrying the torch of righteousness while everyone around the globe in stumbling in the dark, because America is exceptional and we’re the best.  And White America is the best of the best.  That.  Is how we got here.  It’s the women’s march.  And the protest is against a misogynist who assaults women and a Republican party who devalues them.  But he got there because white Americans are stupid and they’ve believed their own hype for so long they can’t tell shit from shinola.  

Facts don’t matter to those white Americans, which is why the GOP rejects climate change.  History doesn’t matter to those white Americans, which is why they continue to vote for Republican officials who take their money and give it to the richest among us.  The only thing that matters to those white Americans is this:  America is the best, white people are the best, so white Americans are the best of the best.  Anything that contradicts that view is a lie and anybody who can tap into that feeling is their savior.  That’s how we got Donald Trump.

the analysis is missing the fact that a whole lot of educated upper and middle class whites voted for Trump and a great deal of white poor voted Clinton. Its not just ignorance that is driving this. White supremacy yes. Greed and fear of losing power, certainly.

Being ignorant and having a degree aren’t mutually exclusive. Being poor and being educated aren’t mutually exclusive. There are plenty of ignorant white people holding college diplomas. There are plenty of rich white folks who don’t know their asshole from their elbow. And there are plenty of poor white people who are educated. Ignorance isn’t just a tiny box of rednecks who dropped out of high school boo boo.

8 Things Vegans and Meat Eaters Can Totally Agree On

We may think we see the world differently, but here are eight things we can definitely all agree on: 1. Animal agriculture is a leading cause of climate change. Animal agriculture is one of the largest contributors to climate change and deforestation. In fact, according to the World Bank, animal agriculture is culpable for nearly 91 percent of Amazon destruction. What’s more, the meat industry emits more greenhouse gases than all modes of transportation in the world combined. Scary, right?! 2. Thumping piglets and grinding up chicks is wrong. Did you know that the pork industry slams piglets headfirst onto concrete floors if the babies are too sick or aren’t growing fast enough? Additionally, the egg industry grinds up male chicks alive. That’s right — since they will never lay eggs and don’t grow quickly enough to be raised profitably for meat, they’re killed within hours of hatching. I think we can all agree that these practices, which are totally standard, are truly sickening. 3. There’s no excuse for extreme confinement. In an effort to maximize profit, factory farmers keep animals in cramped, disease-ridden conditions. Many animals won’t see the sun until they’re on their way to the slaughterhouse. Horrible. 4. Eating meat causes deadly diseases. Eating meat is linked to heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and even cancer. In fact, the World Health Organization reported that processed meats are just as hazardous to your health as cigarettes. Also, the world-renowned Mayo Clinic found that long-term vegetarians live on average 3.6 years longer than their meat-eating counterparts. Let that sink in for a minute.

5. Abusing workers is unacceptable. Factory farms aren’t just awful places for animals; they also hurt people. From sex abuse and unsafe work conditions to slave labor, modern farms shamelessly abuse their employees. Just last year, an Oxfam report revealed the terrible conditions suffered by factory farm employees. Workplace hazards include injuries, respiratory illness, and PTSD. Workers are also at risk for infection by antibiotic-resistant bacteria. A recent report revealed that on average, one Tyson employee a month is injured by equipment and loses a finger or limb. 6. Superbugs are a very real threat. On modern farms, antibiotics are used to make animals grow faster and keep them alive in conditions that would otherwise kill them. Bacteria can develop resistance to these antibiotics, making it virtually impossible to treat humans who become infected by these “superbugs.” These antibiotic-resistant superbugs should scare all of us. 7.
