Thinking about the chaotic and semi-anarchic experience of fanfiction. Like writers are not producers and readers are not consumers but we all share the experience of fanfiction, even if we do different things in the fandom. We all influence one another a LOT, in real time. Without knowing most people's real names...
I really don't see fanfiction like original fiction writing because writing your own original manuscript is much more solitaire and there is a natural flow that is not circular: you write, readers read, sometimes you get reviews
Fanfic writing to me is a comunal experience: we share ideas, we write for fun and we can turn bffs with our favorite authors so easily and the flow is in fact chaotic and we bond so deeply sometimes
