When a handful of Westboro Baptist Church members showed up Saturday at the funeral of Orlando shooting victim Christopher Leinonen, counterprotesters donning large, white angel wings were there to shield mourners. Members of the Orlando Shakespeare Theater put together the wings as a symbolic but also literal screen between the WBC and funeral attendees. An Orlando Police tweet later proved the efforts to stop the WBC worked.

To m0thman0fficial: Anton La Vey's "The Satanic Rituals" (the text can be found online) includes two Lovecraftian rituals: "The Ceremony of the Nine Angles" and "The Call to Cthulhu." (Of course, whether you want LaVeyan Satanism all over your PCP is a whole 'nother barrel of tentacles.)

Thank you for the info!

Walpurgisnacht

Walpurgisnacht is a week away and I can already feel the energy and magik in the air! I’m so excited to celebrate it for the first time this year! No huge celebration, but I will definitely cleanse my crystals over a fire!!

Target is a great store… I love Target

I like the weird popcorn smell. Being in a target always feels somewhat hyperreal idk how to describe it but the sense of reality in a target is always a bit unhinged

especially when you’re in target for a solid two hours by the time you leave you kind of feel like you don’t really exist

I thought this was going to be so bad

Im so happy for you

Cephalotus follicularis is in the family Oxalidaceae. Commonly known as Australian Pitcher Plant, it is only found on the continent of Australia. This plant is carnivorous and uses its pitcher to trap insects and other prey. While this species may look similar to other pitcher plants, it is unrelated and in a lineage all its own. The Australian Pitcher Plant is actually more related to the common lawn weed Oxalis, or wood sorrel, than to other pitcher plants such as Nepenthes and Sarracenia. This is a prime example of convergent evolution, in which unrelated plant lineages develop similar adaptations in response to the environment they grow in. Plants evolve the carnivorous lifestyle in response to low nutrients in the soil, and so look elsewhere to fulfill their dietary needs.

I have been so busy with my school work but I could not be more proud of myself with the progress I am making within my major and at my school.

Not only did I get into Psi Chi (the national honors for psychology) but I was voted as president for the upcoming school year. I also just finished two extremely important research papers, one on the dangers of color-coding children’s toys and how it effects later psychological disorders due to the amount of aggression and empathy certain toys help develop in chidlren’s brains and one on the treatment of Gender Dysphoria in children and adolescents. I was also offered a position as a tutor with Sydney

I talked to someone at the school about wanting to have more training for faculty and staff on LGBT students and I was informed that it was already in the process and they were not planning on deciding a training without consulting me first. I also asked about having an excel event about transgender individuals in the college setting and I told them I was not sure how or who LAMBDA would like to have but that we wanted something to better educate the campus and I was told that no one is more qualified to speak on campus than myself and that they were waiting for me to mention something because they think this is something that would be extremely beneficial to not only the school, but for me as well.

I presented the bathroom proposal to student senate and they are behind me and LAMBDA in creating every single stall bathroom on campus gender neutral. I have had about 5 people come up to me and compliment me on how well written and professional the proposal was as well as compliment me on wanting to take this type of action.

Not too long ago I helped aid in creating another section of upper classmen housing to be co-ed and I plan on working with res life to recreate the housing contract to better aid incoming transgender students as well as making more co-ed housing.

I also received the student association scholarship for the progress I am making here at ycp and that makes me extremely happy

Now this is a genuinely biodegradable water bottle.

It started as a homework assignment for a college class, but the biodegradable, algae-based container 32-year-old product design student Ari Jónsson ended up creating has the potential to shake up the plastic water bottle industry.
Jónsson, a student at the Iceland Academy of the Arts, invented an all-natural water bottle that holds its shape when full and decomposes when empty. He debuted his creation in mid-March at the DesignMarch 2016 festival in Reykjavík, Iceland.
Only two materials are needed to create the bottle: agar, a gelatinous substance that comes from red algae, and water…

I’m not sold on this particular idea being the winner in the sustainable-plastic race, but glad to see people are working on alternatives. (Actually, there is a ton of research into that going on now.)
